Regrets

I hope you've at least become a good swimmer because of it.

Myself ? Yep. Loads. But thats partly because of the type of person i am,as well as things done or not done.

Yep me too, I can cringe with embarrassment at things I remember doing 40 years ago and it can send me into a tailspin of self loathing and deep regret. The type of person I am has resulted in impulsive and dangerous behaviour and I have a tendency to lash out in defence because I sometimes take things very personally. So yes...regrets, I've had more than a few, whether they are justified, I am not so sure. Cheerful Monday morning stuff!!!!

Not moving to Australia when we had the chance

Me and mate at 18yo.
We had 12 month visa, somewhere to live, jobs in a garden centre for 6 months and airline tickets.
He couldn’t pack his girlfriend in and I didn’t want to go on my own.
Still mates 45 years later, we both married the lasses we were going out with in 1976.
Between us 6 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Don’t really regret not going but wonder how life would have turned out.

This

When i was younger i had saved to travel and me and mu mate were going to Australia and other places but i had met a lass at the time and my parents and her persuaded me to use the money as a deposit for a house instead

He still went and i Bought a house

Only thing i think is i wouldnt have my oldest daughter if i went

He had an amazing time stayed away about 2 year in total

Can you not do it now?
My life choices/actions derive from who I am.
I just wish I'd have known who I was a lot earlier so some people, including me, may have avoided being hurt along the way.
Being all philosophical now but can we ever really know ourselves, can we ever see ourselves as others see us.. Yikes all dizzy with my serious philosophical musings

I’ve mentioned this before quite recently but you need to remember that the younger you would have approached situations with a different mindset to the current you.

I often consider why I didn’t or did make a certain decision, but it probably made sense at the time.

People really change over time, so don’t be too hard on yourself.
Correct my friend...and it's a physical fact that if we we could go back in time and change something, we'd probably be dead as 90% of the decisions we make are influenced by our survival instinct.
Everything happened as it was meant to.
Correct...92.8% of the future was written at the time of the Big Bang...only chaos stops us predicting the future, but that's evolution for you.

Honestly the only two things I regret are not banging a few lasses when I had the chance and not going to more away games in my teens/20's.
Everything else I'm ok with

Buying a 1 bedroom apartment in a nice part of Sheffield rather than buying a 5 bedroom house in a rather poorer area, due to my mother pressuring me!!

5 years later the apartment had gained in value of about 20 grand whilst the house was now in one of the most sought after student areas and would have netted me about 60 grand in profit.

For obvious reasons, I have my doubts as to the authenticity of this story 🤣
