Regarding the clubs response to one of or former players...

Nothing of note I imagine, just to confirm name and such. Club muist have sat down with him at some point
There would have been plea and case management hearing(s) where the defence set out their case and the prosecution set out there cases. Initial evidence is usually set out well before the trial, and he would have been served with the prosecution case months ago (one would expect)... If you were employing someone up for those offences wouldn't you ask to see a copy of the cps' initial serving of evidence and disclosures?

I'd imagine it would be a quick confirmation of name and address and as was reported a not guilty plea. No more than that

In early proceedings in crown court cases my understanding is that the defence and prosecution set out their cases- source - http://www.hse.gov.uk/enforce/enforcementguide/court/crown-court.htm

8. 'At this hearing, each defendant will enter a plea. If the defendant pleads guilty, sentencing may take place immediately or an adjournment may be requested. If the defendant pleads not guilty, then the prosecution and defence are expected to inform the court of a number of relevant matters, including the issues in the case, the number of witnesses and the order in which prosecution witnesses will be called, any formal admissions, exhibits, the order and pagination of papers to be used by the prosecution at trial, and any point of law or question as to the admissibility of evidence which is expected to arise. The court must be informed of the estimated length of the trial and the availability of witnesses and counsel. These matters are dealt with in a questionnaire, which must be completed by counsel for each party.'

The issues in the case would include what the prosecution alleges and what the areas of contention are likely to be.

Could be doing with some clarification regarding who knew what and when - after this is all sorted, not during, obviously. The info in the public domain suggests the club were lied to and would have a decent case against the player. How much in wages has been paid out during the time this has gone on?
I think this is a valid point tbh. Not arsed about a statement but I would be interested to know if there is a case for the club to be recompensed for the wages spent whilst they had possibly been lied to in regard to the not guilty plea

F*cking hell man, who the f*ck do you think your are....? is there any need...?

I asked a legitimate question, all you had to do say was NO...

The f***ing keyboard warriors on here are ridiculous at times...

Nice cap mate, canny fit anarl.

The question was entirely redundant. What's not to understand about "No further statement".

Not sure how that would work mate. If prosecution building a case I cannot see the club being able to view evidence. End of the day it's technically no different if you or I were up for it. I certainly couldn't see my employers being given access to key evidence.

He should have been suspended and remained suspended until after the trial had reached the full conclusion. Unsuspending and playing him then sacking him on day one of the trial does nobody any favours

It's about being seen to do the right thing for me. Another similarity is the fella involved in the Glasgow crash a couple of Christmases ago - he knew he wasn't fit to drive but lied to his employers about it. The evidence we're seeing won't have just appeared yesterday, he'll have known he was bang to rights very early on in the process. He's then told the club he's completely innocent. If he'd told the truth he'd have been sacked the day he was charged.

How is this looking for negatives? I firmly believe the club have been exemplary here. What I don't want is any grey area.
Ah, you like things to be black and white

obviously he's intentionally finagled 9 months pay but he's played/provided a service during this time, if he'd been suspended on full pay until now then possibly we could get the wages back. mind i'm just guessing this to be the case

Change of circumstance though. Club played it right IMO, if he is a f***ing compulsive liar the club clearlt did not know

Our players have kids and will have their own views on it, he has kids and will have to live with it for the rest of his life. He will get what he deserves! As for our club I think they done what they had to do when they had to do it!

Mmmmmm, I see what you are saying, but I'm getting a bit uncomfortable with what is being said around the WWW. I think once proceedings are finished, the club needs to say a bit more.

Stop swearing Jim... I think I've made it quite obvious...

THE CLUB HAVE SAID THEIR BIT THEY HAVE STATED THERE WILL BE NO MORE COMMENT REGARDING THE MATTER YOU KEEP ON BLABBING ABOUT SO STOP F*CKING GOING ON ABOUT IT

Just leave it to Lineker and Shearer to spout off about it and hopefully receive their cards.
Hopefully their "spouting off" consists of something along the lines of "A great win to round off what's been an awful week" - I'm sure BBC's legal people will keep them right.

Knob.

At this point in time, possibly...?
Read the tabloids and the inevitable book when it comes out. SAFC no longer involved. Look elsewhere for your thrills.
