I have to be honest that it crossed my mind that the club may have been aware, but with your CEO being a lawyer the idea that it was swept under the carpet simply doesn't sound reasonable as she would be completely aware of the possible ramifications. With so many at clubs being from different parts of the world you could reasonably expect different attitudes as the age limit varies. Your owner comes from a state where the legal age is 17 and if the other person is over 21 it is illegal. Curiously it is legal for two fourteen year olds to have relations. The law there seems to protect the less mature from the predatory mature. Having grown up in that environment I can't see him having turned a blind eye to it either. I think the bloke has lied to everyone. I wonder how his lasses parents felt now when they told the press he'd done nothing wrong months ago.OP has a point. What if the club knew exactly what the outcome of this would be from the start? What if they thought they couldnt afford, given the clubs recent league positions, to sacrifice one of their 'so called' best performers? What if they paid him since it all came out up until now, fully aware of how things would pan out? Money vs moral? I think a full statement from the club is the least we should expect. In fact we should demand it as fans.
Not many people on here will want to believe the above, but rotten cores get mentioned a lot on the board. Maybe the rotten core stretches a little further up the corporate ladder? Who knows?
