Regarding the clubs response to one of or former players...

He should have been suspended and remained suspended until after the trial had reached the full conclusion. Unsuspending and playing him then sacking him on day one of the trial does nobody any favours
So you wanted us to suspend him on full pay for however long it took for the lawyers/courts to get their act together and prosecute him?

Bit weird that, imho.

I think the club's actions have been exemplory and there really is no more they need to say.
This I would have thought there could be employment law consideration for saying more anyway. His personal records will come under data protection same as for the rest of us.

The club were stuck 2 weeks is the maximum he could be suspended. They either had to play him or sack him and as his brief would argue he wouldn't get a fair if they sacked him they couldn't do much else

They didn't have to play him I guess. They could have just left him out of the first team squad without any suspension. He could argue, I guess, that he was being unfairly treated etc, but the Club could have said he was being left out for football reasons if they had wanted to do so.

If it was a teacher, a policeman, a doctor etc facing the allegations isnt that would have happened?

I don't want any further statement, they've said what they needed to say, he's no longer the clubs responsibility or problem.
To make further comment would encourage further media debate, whatever they say has the potential to be misconstrued.
So let's just focus on what the club remain responsible for, our premier league status

Good post ye

Are you sure they're always suspended on full pay?

I think that would be the norm, yeah. But partly why I asked it as a question is Im not entirely sure. But I would expect them not to be sacked outright, not to be kept employed on the job, and suspension without pay is dubious for the aforementioned reasons by other posters. Anyone have any solid info on this?

Just let it go.

He's going down and more than likely will never kick a ball in anger again.

Had it all, lost it all - lets move on.

the way social media is handled by corporate departments is to try and close it down quickly

when a no win situation occurs the press release is kept as short as possible

the damage to our brand (SAFC) has been absolutely immense this week

and this is set to continue

our underdog tag has changed to dog tag

it will be a long recovery process
