Regarding my previous comments somewhat defending the club today

And this, I suspect, is the exact reason for the clubs stance. I don’t think they trust some of our fans to not be racist/xenophobic/islamophobic.

Highlighting the human rights issues is commendable, but writing some derogatory filth the choice of faith of their owners, well, not so much
They approved one then changed their mind. They have the power to decide what goes on it... stop making excuses.

I’m not making any excuses, I don’t agree with the way they have conducted themselves at all.

But I think this is the root of it all. One persons has condoned the original, someone else has looked at it and decided it’s a slippery slope and that they want to take a harder line stance.

Very poor from the club, but I can understand how they have arrived at the final decision, they should have just reached it sooner rather than mess everyone around first.

What's the slippery slope? It's not as if others would've known about it until the reveal.

If they can tell the security to confiscate any anti-Newcastle, or any anti-Islam, anti-Saudi Arabia banners then it’s easy for security to follow.

If they tell them to use discretion, then security may allow something the club don’t condone. It blurs the line and a zero tolerance stance is easier to police.

I don’t agree with the outcome but I can understand the rationale that got them there.

How's about confiscate all that but allow an official display thst has been agreed prior between a supporters group and the club (that no one is even aware of until kick off) go ahead?

Hypothetically; If you had a banner about sports washing that you’d paid money for, and they took it off you on your way in, but the you saw the tifo, tell me; how did you react? 😉

I said last week they'd never allow anti Saudi stuff. KLDs family, like pretty much all wealthy investor/business families, will be involved with the various Arab states oil money. It's literally everywhere and it's not prudent for them to bite the hands that feed. The Saudis, UAE, Qatar etc. are investing in industries all over the west so they can remain a soft power influence for when oil is no longer as important to the world.

Nothing in the original banner said anything about a “Muslim state” , and that would be nothing for us to criticise anyway.

The banner called them out for sports washing, stated that silence is complicity and that we have no blood on our hands.

None of that can be construed as a racial or religious slur.

Ironically, by silencing their fans, SAFC have become complicit.
