Referee's vote to go on strike next weekend

The sooner football learns its lessons from Rugby regarding refereeing, the better.

The captain does the talking with the ref. If a decision goes against you you don't act like a prick, you walk away. If you swear at the ref or within earshot, you get sent off.

Would like to have microphones on the refs as well like they do in rugby.

Spot on, the way the refs are spoke to by the footballers is a disgrace

Worst still, they will appeal for something that they no they should not get and even then have the nerve to abuse the ref when it is not given there way

The problem isn't just the players showing a lack of respect for the referees though. When players show complete disrespect for the referees, the refs need to stand up to them. Book them, if they continue arguing, send them off. It's the only way they'll learn.

It needs to be a top-down thing too. It's no good referees doing it in a park on a Sunday where they're likely to get smacked. The referees at the top level need to make a stand and show some balls. Go into the dressing rooms before the game, tell the players you're not going to be argued with, explain if they don't like a decision to walk away or they'll get booked. Then go onto the pitch and stand by it.

The abuse the refs have taken from Lennon is a disgrace tbh. He has taken the whole 'establishment' thing too far.

Well let the ref's be quizzed like everyone else in football, they are responsible for their own mistakes and should admit to them at the end of the game or at least explain them. Ref's have too much power during the game, introduce instant replays to take away the 'inbetween' or 'missed' decisions, make football fair and not based on one persons decisions who may have been compromised either from outside sources (bribes etc.) or home fans - as we have seen at numerous stadia, ref's need to be entirely independent and should not be allowed to decide the outcome of game, that should happen on the pitch between the players.

Could you explain how you would implicate this?

Agree with none of that like.

No I dont, but it does not take away from the point that Lennon will blame refs when there is no need and he hopes it takes away the attention from his own failing. All managers do it, not just Lennon mind

Was it Celtic/Lennon complaining about a ref consulting his linesman one week that complaining because he never a fortnight later:lol:

Sure I heard that somewhere

Good on them I say, must be sick of the attitudes of the players towards them.

You would think the players and perfect and never make mistakes

In Scotland that is

Shouldn't be missed -Just get a few waanabees off the street tell them to give someone a yellow card when they foul someone and a red card for the next foul. Thats all the modern day refs do (except Webb) . They never exercise any common sense just referee like robots.

Like Chris Hoy did for us against Chelsea? The problem is refs don't act like robots and they don't treat every player and club the same. If they acted like robots we'd atleast have consistency.

Is there really a problem with the way refs get spoken to by players in England (dunno about Scottish football btw so there might be there)?

When was the last time you saw a player booked, or even reprimanded for dissent? Not sure i've seen it this season...... refs couldn't give a shit, so clearly not getting abused that badly.

Plus the rugby comparison is weird (i know you didn't make this point so not having a go at you!...... totally different games.) why rugby? is refereeing any better in that sport? not sure it is tbh, and if came under the scrutiny of football, they would get crucified too.

But when they do apply when they seem to be common sense there are accused of not being consistant

Refs will never win really

Sorry forgot to mention they are programmed not to caution anyone from the big 4 particularly if they have by some miracle already being booked.
