Ref tonight

Of course, but are you claiming that they can't look rationally at things and praise a ref if he had a good performance, or even not slate him if he was indifferent

In the heat of battle when things are frustrating no I dont think football fans look at things rationally tbh

I think 50/50 calls that go for a team are instantly forgot about by supporters where as ones that go against them become the worst decisions ever and are mentioned for months and years to come

How many times have you seen him ref this season? If you seen one player have a bad game world you automatically assume he always does?
Unlike yourself, I'm not part of the referees can club, so I don't stalk them each game. What I can say, he was terrible last night and it wasn't one decision it was many. Thread title gives us a clue and all but the two regular defenders of the indefensible, we all agree.

Some clearly can’t.

I was in east stand next to roker end and in 2nd half grigg was running through and flagged offside. It was impossible to tell from our angle but two nuggets behind me were adamant that the decision was a disgrace
I must admit, I groaned. But that was more at a player being offside. Realistically, from the back of the RE, I've not really got a better view than a linesman up with play

Thousands of obvious, easy decisions getting missed throughout the world week in week out but still the penny doesn't drop.....
That you'll still defend them, no matter what?

Yes it's a hard job, made harder by players trying to gain an advantage by cheating. That still doesn't excuse the ones that seem to have a frame of mind that they'll not be intimidated by the atmosphere and simply make it all about them

It's more of an arrogant attitude than mistakes. Replaced by someone who can apply the rules not decide themselves if they want to give something.
Sorry, but I respect others opinions but defending him last night just shows you are clearly wrong!

Tbf mate not defending the ref last night.

Haven’t in any posts defending refs in general.

Nah, I think if a team got a decision their way, they'd remember it almost as much as if it went against.
Again, this is you having a go at our fans (and fans in general to stick up for a ref ) and saying that they can't view things rationally without bias

And surprise surprise, people aren't just saying he was useless, but that he was useless because he gave us nothing. It's funny isn't it, how you never see a ref being criticised on here for being shite because he gave Sunderland everything.

It's almost like football fans are biased, or something.

I mean, I complained at the Peterborough ref was useless when he gave Toney offside from a throw in, I'm pretty sure that was advantageous to us.

He wasn’t he was fine.

29k fans moan every match at the ref with ironic cheers etc.

Apparently the refs who have favoured the big clubs all the time we’ve been in top flight now go against the big clubs in league 1
Just to be different

Thought he as decent enough tbh. Made mistakes yes but most refs do in games so its hardly out the ordinary stuff
Some people are easily pleased, glad you’re in the minority, tells us everything we need to know.

You are one of the folk who prove my point perfectly tbf

While you may be right about some posters on here, there is absolutely no way on earth you can have any reason to try and defend that referee. It was an absolute dog shit performance, one that you simply cannot defend.
