Ref tonight

The quality of the standard of refereeing, like that of the players, diminishes as you descend the leagues. This has been demonstrated consistently throughout the season insofar as virtually every ref has been poor. There used to be a description 'homer' which referred to a referee who seemingly would see the path of least resistance via a favourability towards the home team. The reverse appears to be true this season at SOL. Could the relatively big game atmosphere at our place be having a psychological impact on decision making? Can the much bigger than normal third tier crowds be phasing the men in the middle? The sooner we get out of League 1 the better - for any number of reasons.

It's baffling, every week you read on here they shit!

But people seem incapable of asking themselves why that is?

They watch every week, say refs are shit every week, but can't see what's asboutely staring them in the face.

Anybody with a grain of common sense and logic imo, should be thinking, f***ing hell its impossible in this day and age for refs, with the same tools they had 100 years ago ( just their eyes).

While the game has moved on massively more cheating, faster game, expected to book people more than ever.

It really baffles me wh people are not sympathetic and coming out with things like these guys really need help, the very fact not many on here could name a good ref this season, surely points to the fact how difficult it is?

The whole culture is ridiculous imo, a player cheats and cons the ref, does the cheat the player get criticised?

No the ref does, for not spotting the cheat!

There is nowt like biased passionate football fans for losing all sense of perspective and logic.
Oh bore off, you tedious bastard

They’re obvious to fuckin 1000’s of others who pay to watch football, how do you fail to see these obvious decisions they constantly get wrong?

If people who aren’t referees can see blatant mistakes why can’t you? Get your tongue from out of their hoops and accept some are incompetent, it seems you weren’t there last night or aren’t at games where people start threads about some of the fools we are discussing.

Did you watch the game on the tele?

How can you debate with someone who can't what's staring him in the face

No excuses for his mindset in the 1st half...gave a free kick on the edge of our box in 1st half added time when the burton player flung himself to the floor,.a more balanced performance 2nd half....thought kimpioka was fortunate not to end up in the book when he flung himself at a burton player shortly after coming on..

Oh aye, cos last season we were full of praise for refs weren't we?

You say the ref was fine.
I don't think you were watching the same game as me.
The ref was fine.

I saw something in match thread where someone said ‘he looked the type’ in regards to wanting to be controversial

This

Can you show me a post when I say the ref had a good game and didn't no nowt wrong last night?

My point as always is these decisions are never as straightforward or obvious as folk make out?
So why come on here and slate our fans for having a go?
Why not for once, agree the referendum was poor?
Oh because you just have to be argumentative and back up refs no matter what. Pathetic

You have somebody going out to try their best in proven hard situations as you have just alluded too.

Therefore the fair way to look at things imo, when somebody is given a very difficult job and all are cheating around him is too be fair minded and think fuck me, this is becoming too hard for the human eye, all evidence points that way.

Instead you have the complete opposite of abuse, for somebody trying to achieve the impossible.

Please biased football fans.

All the evidence week in week out proves that, I am genuinely suprised people can't see that.

These threads are nearly every week, how many have come on this season saying the ref was good today?

Can't remember any, surely that is proof of the difficulty of the job?
So by this same line of thinking, we can never criticize a player, as it's an incredibly hard job to play at that level and something all of us on here would struggle with?

He was terrible in the first half and slightly terrible on the second.

Obviously 29k are wrong.
He wasn’t he was fine.

29k fans moan every match at the ref with ironic cheers etc.

Apparently the refs who have favoured the big clubs all the time we’ve been in top flight now go against the big clubs in league 1

I'm not slating our fans. I always say understandably football fans are very biased people so a lot of there opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt

I'm not sure if they come with the thought in their minds that they won't be intimidated by a big crowd and react against the crowd because of that. That first half last night showed there was something wrong because he was terrible!

But that never happened when we went to a big crowd away in the premier league or did it?

All you do is have a go at our fans, simply so you can defend a ref. It's getting boring and it's the only kind of personality you have on this board.

You would argue that black was white you, ya prick

All I am talking about is these people who are bad at their jobs, like the one last night. As I said, you could give them All the cameras in the world, but he would have got it wrong as the offences could be seen by everyone without them, except the useless officials of course.

It's not the criticism mate, of course refs have bad games and nothing wrong with saying soo.

It's the over the top abuse for someone trying to do their best it proven difficult circumstances.

I have no issues whatsoever somebody saying a ref had a bad game.
