The point people are making on here is that we have way too many poor referring performances this season just to brush it off. Of course we will encounter poor refereeing like everyone else but poor referring is happening almost weekly. Has that not occurred to you?
Of course, now tell me, do you agree he looked clueless and out of his depth or are you going against, football reporters from both SAFC and Burton along with 99% of this board and those that observed his performance?
Fully appreciate refs have a difficult job but the referring standard has been poor.
With all due respect if you take your head out your arse and actually watch the game you might see that.
Just informed my 'neutral' mate and he says "you are talking bollocks...and the ref had a shocking performance".
Appreciate football is all about opinions and the referee has a difficult job but that is from someone who was there last night and is neutral.
He got some decisions wrong, he got more right.
Frustrations over our performance, imo, are sometimes taken out on the ref. He wasnt great but at the same time he wasn't as bad as some are making out
I mean, I complained at the Peterborough ref was useless when he gave Toney offside from a throw in, I'm pretty sure that was advantageous to us.
Saw Clough going mental about that. In the wider context that's why I want our dugouts swapped at the SOL. It's been noticeable this season how much the oppo have harangued the lino on that side.
Even though he was terrible, he still didn’t approach the utter incompetence of Probert.
Or his arrogance.
Speaking as an ex-referee who refereed senior football let me confirm for you that the standard of refereeing in League 1 is awful. It is not a product of bias just incompetence. It is a product of most refs never having played the game at any reasonable standard. It is brought about by too many young referees being fast tracked by County FA's who seek the kudos of having a referee on the elite list as the be all and end all, regardless of their true ability. Other factors are also at play like the abuse hurled at referees in the parks deterring many from continuing such that the pool to choose from is poor.
The worst refereeing performance for me was Wycombe away. Within 15 mins of the kick off after the O'Nien foul and the theatrical dive by their No. 10 in our box, I turned to the wife and said "he needs to get grip of this or it will run way from him", it was that predictable.
Surely the human eye could see the foul on O'Nein was not a fair tackle and actually was reckless and out of control. But it's not fair minded and objective is it?
What is the percentage of praising refs on this board this season as opposed to criticising them?
We know the answer don't we?
That's where we will have to disagree, to me it proves it's simply too difficult for just the human eye in modern day football.
And it's clear as day help is needed.
That's really my whole point, and I think all the evidence backs that view up.
He left his f***ing eyes at home
Erm Luton at home?It was like he couldn't wait to put the whistle to his mouth whenever there was the slightest contact on a Burton player..utter garbage only ref that was worse than him this season was the Peterborough ref he was truly abysmal.

I do agree with you 100% that it's a tough job and it's not helped at all by players cheating or trying to gain an advantage every way possible BUT what I can't abide is when in the same game there are obvious contrasting consistency issues where one team will be given a foul for something the other team isn't. That is where the mainstream fan will claim the ref is cheating or showing a bias against one team. I know passion often clouds the judgement from both sets of fans at the game but at times this season it does seem like a huge number of decisions have went against us no matter how marginal they seem at the time.Well yeah possibly on that one, but week in week out, having to make decisions with just the human eye, with one look, one angle and spilt second decision to decide is clearly proving too diffcult for refs.
Not sure why people can’t see that ? all the evidence is there!

One solution if go for is the VAR system but for it to be a 5th official at the ground rather than in a studio miles away, something similar to the way Rugby and Cricket have used it and proved it works. More soon Rugby which is pretty similar in speed as football is.
Another thing I'd like to see is more transparency from the officials too after the game where they can be asked questions and have the opportunity to explain why such decisions are made rather than the way it is now, as that makes them seem untouchable. Yes they're human and will make mistakes but I think people would accept it more if we heard from them as long as lessons were learnt from this.
It seems we’ve got yet another sniffling little shite, bitching to the mods, 4 posts deleted
This will be deleted and yet another warning issued because someone is upset.
The disallowed goal, anyone shed any light on this, difficult to see from the SWC.
Thanks mate, I couldn’t comment on the disallowed goal as I couldn’t see it from where I sit.Watching it on the stream at the time, I wasn’t sure. Watching it back on the Skysports highlights, Sterling jumps into the keeper with his back, not trying to play the ball, the keeper had caught it before Sterling got near him and Sterling impeded him from completing the catch.
Sorry to say the ref got it right.
The things he got wrong were the three reckless tackles. One into the back of O’Nien, no yellow card. The one on Morgan, didn’t even give a foul and having had Max Power and Cattermole went off for similar the challenge on Kimpioka was an absolute shocker. The lad made no attempt to play the ball and played the man around knee height.

All other points I can agree with, yet still some people don’t get it.
He was shite, glad the majority of football fans can see this.I agree they don’t
