Never understood why the American Republican right wing religious crew don't get tortured about their opinion on:

"tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

They hold that you're rich cos their god wants you to be rich.

The accumulation of money trumps the accumulation of peace/wisdom.

If you've ever had any time to listen to these snake oil salesmen on Sunday morning TV over there you'll find that their services follow the same pattern. Just before you're asked to give 'what you can' you'll hear an enlightening story about some poor believer who was really down on his/her luck who gave a little and got a lot back in the space of a few days in the shape of a lotto win etc. Every time.

During the porn wars in the 80s Frank Zappa was asked about how he controlled his kids TV viewing habits he said, I tell them to switch off whenever they see a phone number at the bottom of the screen.

Funnily enough the only two weeks I spent in America I barely watched a second of tv. Thank God I suppose!
