Red card?

I’m amazed we’re bottom of the fair play league and Millwall are 3rd 😂😂
Unbelievable that mind.
For the punch on Cirkin, the keeper followed the same approach as the rest of the team. Overly aggressive in the challenge with a view that if they don’t get the ball, they will still get the player.

It is a red for me. No different to a tackle by an outfielder who tries to play the ball but is late and reckless (and high and with extreme/excessive force) and snaps an opponent who has been too quick and nicks the ball away. “Endangering an opponent”. It’s worse than that actually as it’s against someone’s head not their leg.

But I’ll admit it’s impossible for the ref to see the specifics to know that the goalie has literally punched him so will give him the benefit of the doubt there as the box is so crowded

But it’s a definite foul and that is easy to see (you can see the goalie wipes him out fairly clearly) but imagine if the header goes wide, would we have got a penalty? I very much doubt it as refs protect goalies far too much

So after playing football his whole life he is so shit at judging the flight of a ball he misses it by six feet, or he stuck one on him.
I know which one is more plausible to me
So the goalie thought to himself "right I'm going to knock this blokes head off"

Have a word with yourself man, yes it was reckless, yes it was dangerous, yes it should have been a red, it wasn't f***ing deliberate.

It's a red; undue force; endangering an opponent etc..
That shot shows the ball has travelled about two feet on from where Dennis headed it, so about one-twentieth of a second after contact. The goalie's arm is bent, and perhaps that is a recoil effect because he has already made contact. Given that Cirkin's head is still vertical, it looks more like Long is about to follow through and straighten his arm, so his attempt to get the ball is very, very late: so late that it is arguably deliberate. It even could be seen as Actual Bodily Harm, but it would be hard to make that charge stick for a single punch. That team didn't seem to have any qualms about smashing people up all over the rest of the pitch anyway (or diving about feigning injury). Maybe what was deliberate was the manager's tactics?
The EFL should take some action on the incident, and the FA should be looking at the rules.

I hope you're feeling better today Dennis .

Odd reaction, so his is just a shit goal keeper in your opinion?
I think based on the behaviour on that Millwall side as a whole the goalie taking the chance to flatten an incoming player would be exactly in line with their tactics but I'll be sure to have that word with myself and agree with you though

OK you're right, the goalie deliberately punched him, I suggest Cirkin gets the police involved as that would be assault.

Bad decision from the goalkeeper that's all, came through a group of players and didn't get there. Connects with Cirkin, but a pure accident.

I'd agree with you but looking at the still from the contact, there's no way he's going for the ball.
Reckless, dangerous play at best. With the momentum of both he could have easily killed the lad.

Neither of us knows it was just too big a miss to be a genuine attempt from a pro for me. Hopefully the lad is ok is the main thing anyway

You see it all the time, keepers coming to punch where players heads are. Pure luck they don't connect with players heads more often. Should they all be red cards? The keeper is intentionally coming to hit Cirkin but it's just that our lad gets there ahead of the keeper. You can argue it's reckless but therefore there should be many more sendings off for a keeper coming to punch near opponents heads, regardless of whether they connect.
