Was looking to hire one but thought it's possibly more cost effective to buy one.

I've got a few trees/shrubs to remove along my back fence.

Cordless or petrol powered rather than corded.

No recommendations but I just hope your username doesn't become apt after you buy one mate.
  3. Plenty of them to choose from on eBay.
Go for petrol around the 50cc mark.
Pay no more than £80 IMHO.
Aldi had them in last year, so if you can wait, go with their ones as you get a good long guarantee from them

I've seen enough episodes of casualty to know how these accidents can happen

That looks much better value than the ones for sale in b and q and screwfix

  8. Buy the gear to keep your hands and legs in one piece then buy the saw. Very unforgiving is a saw

If I lived in the fine city of Holby, I'd refrain from any dangerous activities TBH.

Mine is an extendable hedge trimmer, chainsaw etc. but they were the best value I could find and the quality has been great.

Need to get one myself. What's wrong with an electric (corded) one?

I was considering a corded one, but it's a faff on for me with an extension lead and then making sure it doesn't trip me up or I cut through it!

Cutting through the cord might be bad for you.

Not as powerful, so depends what you’re cutting down and dragging a cord around is a pain.

But they are lighter which is a bonus.

And there’s something about the smell of a two stroke engine.

tbh, I want something less powerful and less likely to cut my own arm off.

So if I can't be sure not to cut the cord, then its not for me anyway

Get a Parker, it’s got cut outs so you’d have to be hapless to lose a limb.

This thread reminds me of those Texas DIY stores that were taken over by Homebase.
