Been looking through the board and can't see it mentioned anywhere!

Just seen the sending offs on SSN....disgusting!! Xavi Alonso and Sergio Ramos seem to pick up deliberate second yellow cards by blatantly time wasting!! Ramos even has the audacity to shake the ref's hand after being shown the second yellow card as if to say 'thanks!!'

A thread about how Alonso and Ramos get sent off on purpose? I'm sure I saw a thread somewhere about Alonso and Ramos get sent off on purpose, but I can't remember what the thread about Alonso and Ramos get sent off on purpose was called.

dont know what the fuss is about, this has happened loads of times....

What's the difference between what they did and shielding a ball in the corner to 'close a game out'?

While shielding the ball in the corner the ball is in play and its up to the ref for a decision for obstruction etc. To have to take three or four run ups to take a free kick is blatent timewastimg when the ball is not in play.It has nothing to do with closing the game out because the ball is not in play.

They were still running the clock down though, as time doesn't stop when the ball is dead in football- so there was nout the matter with it IMO. With all these 'tactically naive' cliches that are bandied around these days, it just shows how far ahead Mourinho is.

They shouldn't be punished for doing something that had no effect on the scoreline nor the game in general, as it was already over by that point.

They were both already on yellows and got themselves deliberately sent off so that there would be no yellows hanging over them when the knockout stages start. The one match ban will be served in the last group game. RM have already qualified for the knockout stage.

I know, but what difference is there from that to the hundreds of players who have 'taken one for the team' and deliberately fouled a player so that they have a clean slate for the latter rounds? Doing it Mourinho's way affected no-one. Ajax were 4 down ffs!

It has affected the next team to face Ramos and Alonso in Europe.

IIRC he got a ban for that. Simple answer is to increase the one match ban to two for the Madrid players for unsporting behaviour/gamesmanship.

And they got a ban for their sending offs. They will pay for the red card as for a sending off. That's all. I don't know why they should take further actions against them.

PS: Gheorghe Hagi always got the yellow he needed to be banned for games against Macedonia as he's of macedonian descent.

Pretty obvious what went on i know, but how do the authorities prove it was deliberate?
