Real Madrid are watching Jobe...

Sell Jobe and Clarke and on top of our otherwise smart recruitment that should be enough ( reinvested right) to almost assure a top two spot next season and thus retain the other prospects . Shame we cant keep them all but one or two have to be cashed to do the job

Who are the other prospects???

said to me marras when he signed that I'd be surprised if he was here more than 12 months

huge talent

Think he gets a little stick because his brother is currently doing crazyness and ultimately got a big move at a younger age.

I've seen enough though to suggest he has enough talent and tools in his game to go very very far.

I'm not sure any of them have the potential monetary value of Clarke and Jobe.
No they dont, but they have the prospect of being fully functional long term players for us in the premier league, which we may lose due to personal ambition if we tarry too long over a no sales build in the championship

He won’t play for Real Madrid
Possibly not but ya never know.

When discussing whether Jobe can follow in Jude's footsteps however, it might be worth noting that by the time Jude was Jobe's age, he'd played 40 odd games for Borussia Dortmund and had ten England caps.

Aye, I see where you're coming from.

I like the lads you mention, I just how much more of a prospect some of them are. Ballard for example can't be far of the finished article now. That's not to say he couldn't step up to the Prem.

I worry about our promotion aspirations without a player of Clarkey's calibre though. I'm more or less resolved to losing him in the summer (I'll be gutted if he leaves in Jan) if we don't go up.

Promotion needs to happen this season really, but I'm not convinced it will.

Mental when you think about it

Jude? Just a bit.
He's insanely good at his age. We big up Dan Niel fand co for playing so many games aged 21 but that lad is a different level and delivering as a the main man most weeks. Not just fitting in with them.

Jobe got a lot of protentional and you can see he is a good character and wants to learn. The world is his oyster as they say

I think it will be next season . In summer we will sell a couple of high value who were never going to stay and then start to buy the extra quality on the basis we're going up come with us and what we have are staying

Fwiw i think Ballard , Ekwah and Neil would all fetch £15m minimums in due course , maybe Patto too, then theres Aouchiche but i think theyll all be willing to wait a year .

That sort of thing I think that provides a stark reminder of where our lads are really. People on here get very excited about the likes of Dan Neil, and yes 21 is still young, but you have to remember the level some other players were at by that age. Neil is 22 in a couple of months. By the time Hendo was 22 he's won the League Cup in his first season with Liverpool, he'd been an FA Cup finalist, was Liverpool's Young Player of the Year, and was called up to the Euros for England, having received his first cap two years prior whilst still playing for us.

I mean to be fair, I love Jack Clarke, but the lad's 23. He got his big move years ago and somewhere along the line it's gone tits up. So he's had to start again with us, which is credit to the lad really. But you think about some of the top players in his position, and they were already top players at the top level by his age. I suppose a notable exception would be Jack Grealish, who stuck it out with Villa in the Championship for a few years. I've not always been Grealish's biggest fan, but you can deny the lad's put the graft in.

I didn't mean that as a dig out at our lads. I meant to show the difference to a totally exceptional world class player like Jude that are very very rare.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ballard go if someone wanted him like.

I think it could be a really dicey summer if we fail to go up like. I know what you're saying about funds, but I think it could be tumultuous. We'll have a new manager to appoint for a start.

I think we are a pretty good bunch of fans but I do think that some have short memories. Not so long ago loads of posts criticised the “selling” club mentality.
And then…….queuing up to sell players before they have been here for 5 minutes.
Let’s just enjoy our players whilst they are ….at some stage some will move on for a range of reasons and so be it.
(Jobe, his parents and agent will decide when and if Jobe moves not Sunderland and the club will not make a huge windfall)

I kna, I'm just saying. We've a young squad and people get carried away. But a lot of good players have already hit a certain level by their early 20s. Some break through at that level and never drop. And it's not just the exceptional 'world class' players either. Mark Noble was playing Premier League football for West Ham when he was 20. So when people say Dan Neil is gonna be a (top) Premier League player, a lot of other players already were by his age. It's a sobering thought. The likelihood is he won't achieve what Henderson has, yet you get people on here saying Dan Neil is our best ever Academy product. He isn't.

Jude's been outstanding so far, so people are naturally going to take a look at his brother. But Jude's in his 5th full season of proper football at the age of 20. His 4th in a top tier league. Jobe's 18 in his 2nd season at tier two Sunderland. He's got a bit of catching up to do.

if we can keep him until the end of next season and move him for 25 million plus that'd represent good business

Why do we need to sell anyone? I thought our owners were loaded - why are people getting excited over flogging our best assets? Not quite there yet but we are never going to recover our support base if we become a pure feeder/selling club. The club is the supporters.
