Real ale on match days

The Dun Cow is a great pub, but all the hand pumps are American hop IPAs, so not what I'd call real ale. The only bitter is Samson out of a keg. Its obviously what people want, but it all tastes like Brew Dog to me.

The Marine in NE33 always has a good selection .
But if a walk 😂

Yeah he’s probably trying to escape all that. The lad is originally from Burnley

Mods please move this if not in the right place. We’ve got a family friend joining us from the states next month and he loves real ale. Where are the best places in walking distance to the match these days?

Thanks

Dun Cow, Fire Station or the Vaux brewery tap

The IPA trend has got way out of hand. The point of multiple handpumps is to offer a variety of beer styles, not half a dozen variations on a theme. And don't get me started on the oxymoron that is a black IPA.

If it’s a 12:30 ko. The Dun Cow opens at 10.00 am. 😊

If he’s from the states he doesn’t love real ale, cask beer/real ale doesn’t exist in the USA

Youre probably getting real ale mixed up with keg craft beer

If he’s from the UK and looking forward to coming home to drink cask beer then maybe so
