RAWA & Methven Minutes

Also as a branch chairman he is presumably represented on RAWA via at least one of the following representatives :-

A Love Supreme / Away Fan Rep / Branch Liaison Council / Disabled Supporters Group / Family Zone Rep / SMB – Pure Football Forum / The Roker End Atmosphere Group / Supporter Liaison Group / Roker Report Fansite / Wise Men Say Podcast / LGBTQ/Women Suppporters/Corporate Hospitality/Senior Citizens and SAFC Ladies.

If anyone objects to what comes out of RAWA then they need seek out their representative, it seems quite democratic to me , except that there are businesses on that list !

The BLC attend the liaison meeting in their own right. You'd think a branch chairman would know that.

May i say that these organisations, who appear to comprise of people full of their own importance, do not speak for me or the branch of which I am chairman. Who do they think they are demanding this and that get behind the club and give them your full support, I speak as a supporter who saw his first game in 1957 and got his first season ticket in1973.
Oooooh look at me I’m a chairman. Pathetic ;)

There may be a lot more to the situation than meets the eye.
The rearranged meeting , the timing of the fans’s groups request, the response , the falling out, the sniping by fanzines, the club statement...
There’s a lot more we need to know about what’s gone on imo

Or less.

Typical replies from people who appear to be of low intelligence and cannot string sentences together unless they are showing their ignorance, they should remember the saying" It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt". I expect they are off to schoo; now

Suggest you stop digging marra.

What I'd like to see as and when there are new owners is a completely different approach to fan engagement. No committees, no representatives, no spokespeople, no groups with special access to the club, but regular engagement directly with the fans. In this day and age this can be done really easily using digital media for some things, with regular meetings (first come first served) for Q & A type engagement.

We've ended up in a position where we have supporters club branch chairmen annoyed when anyone else expresses an opinion, wankers like Sam Wise using identity politics to set up one man groups and get access to the club, and self-appointed groups who originally fawned over the owners, then demanded a change in ownership and then, when they apparently get what they want, saying it is nothing to do with them.

We've gone from zero communication to far too much unstructured, self-interested communication which is making the club look like a laughing stock.

Isn’t that what the current owners did? Podcasts, talk ins, drinking with fans, in the away end, been on Twitter, met with RAWA regularly etc.
not sure they could have done much more in that regard.

We are known in the game to be an issue? What issue? The same as any other fan of any other club wanting whats best for the club, or is it this 'Sunderland fans expectations are too high' myth? Seriously,,, there are other clubs whos fans expect more without the history of our club, what should our expectations be? Most fans just expect a team who can play football or at least compete... I think our only expectation or hope when we were in the PL was maybes, maybes sneak a spot in Europe somehow... if no fans are allowed any expectations (or dreams) other than this what the feck is the point in following football when only 4 or 5 teams in the UK are 'allowed' to have expectations... makes a mockery of the entire game if thats the case....
Its quite ironic that he played the “fan expectations are too high” bullshit yet the rumours about the players for years have been how all the players have to do is beat Newcastle whenever we play them and the fans would love them forever. Hardly a high bar.

I agree, I think something has happened that fans groups are not telling. The way roker report have turned to being outrageously negative is astounding, even deliberately retweeting stuff out of context to generate an impression of discontent.

Wise men say eve said "there's worse stuff privately".

I don't get how they can call Donald for not being honest but they are not telling the full truth themselves.

Pretty much exactly (even quoting WMS) what I posted on a thread this morning.

'just the tip of thr iceberg' was something WMS posted a day or two before the RAWA statement. There had clearly been conversations between the fanzines themselves, and directly with Donald in the lead up to it.

That Chris Weatherspoon today said Donald told him 16th December that the club still needed cash injections every year. His statement today says the opposite.

Something's up.

From what I’ve been told about the first meeting from someone who would know, and no I’m not revealing who that would be, Methven allegedly made some comments about the supporters of the club which some would believe to be quite demeaning.
The fact he left the club soon after backs up what I was told.
It was his personal opinion and had it become public I think would have caused the club some embarrasment, hence the second meeting with Donald.
Unless there’s something else which I’ve not been told there’s no major revelation which would bring the club to its knees.
The representatives are in a difficult situation and there wouldn’t really be any point in stirring up a lynching party when the person has already left the club so I totally understand their silence on the matter.

Everyone backstage at every club hates its fans. Of course they’d nivver gan public with it.

It was put on here that he said something about people being not clever enough to understand the business.

And based on your last paragraph, why turn against the whole regime at all then?
