Rashford Dropped

Rashford was shit 3 weeks ago on here

And up until he scored in the last game!

There was really nowt to get uppity about tonight with Southgate’s selection. Saka for Rashford was hardly a negative move and the boy is an outstanding talent with great maturity. He’s level on goals with Rashford now as well isn’t he?

My concern was that reports prior to the game were saying Mount back in for Henderson which I think would have been a bad move. Reports were wrong and Southgate’s picks did the business. He’s keeping the squad happy and nigh all the best players are regularly involved

We had the best record in the group stages and in terms of FIFA ranking had the hardest group and we have now beaten the African champions pretty easily and played some great football doing it.

Who did you think we would need to beat in a world cup Quarter final, Semi and Final?

Its the world cup. You have to beat the best teams to win it and we have as much chance as the others left in. All the big hitters (Including England) are lining up and it should be good.

Far too many England fans seem to have an inferiority complex when facing the top sides. We did Germany last time and we can do France and the others given a fair wind.
Yes we can beat France and the others given a fair wind.

France may well be the toughest test we’ll face. That doesn’t mean it gets easy after them. If us beating France is 50/50, Spain is 60/40 and Brazil is 60/40 you need an awful lot of fair wind to get through those games. They’re all really tough and a bit of a coin flip. The odds of winning three on the bounce are relatively small.

Henderson allows Rice and Bellingham to get forward more. Mount wouldn’t do that

Yup. When he's not bursting forward himself
Southgate has now won as many knock out games at major tournaments in 4 years ( 3 tournaments) as England have from I think it was 1968 to 2016. He’s just really really lucky though I’m sure

Imagine how good he'd be if he took the handbrake off

Rashford, the player many on here thought was shite until he scored two (in a game against a second rate when the manager was resting a few and unleashing a few others to get a game) should be in ahead of one of our best players

Cracking post.

Surely not?

Why would you change any of that winning team man. It worked so well.

Gareth Southgate

Think he knows what he’s doing tbf.
That is our strongest team.

Absolutely. Said it before the match: this is the best, most balanced XI we have, in the right formation.

Southgate shouldn’t overthink it now. He’s cracked the code and played us into form.

He’s making difficult things look routine and, fine, I get that people have inflated opinions of our status in international football but look at Belgium, Germany, Italy even - not here! - and I dare say a few others before this round is done. He’s easily the best England manager we’ve had in my lifetime.

I think people just can’t take it that he’s not an alpha male or something. Or thinks about defending. Idk. Baffling.

What an absolute bastard, picking players and formations that he thinks will give us the best chance of beating opponents, and winning more knockout stage matches than any other England manager in my lifetime. If Southgate had any sort of decency, he'd resign now and hand himself over to the Qatar authorities.

Maybe we should just travel home now?

That's the thing. People keep saying he's been lucky as we've had routes to semis and finals that haven't included top teams. Failing to realise its because these 'top teams' had been beaten in earlier rounds off the shitter sides we ended up playing instead
