Rank Sunderland managers

If I go on managers who brought me the most enjoyable seasons of watching us Id have to say:

Reid: That 4 year spell from 97/98 to 00/01 was the best 4 years of supporting the lads.
Keane: That promotion season was tremendous after being bottom for the first few games and resulting in that night against Burnley.
McCarthy: Probably the same reason as Keane, that promotion season will live long in the memory.

Can you rank your top 5 managers you have seen in your time as a Sunderland fan. Try not to concentrate too much on how it ended but the good times you had as a fan, performance during, sense of hope etc. My first one I remember was Peter and nothing beats those early years.

1. Peter Reid - first manager I remember and felt like winning games was the norm as a young lad
2. Roy Keane - first years of big drinking going to away games during that promotion season
3. Poyet - cup final, like his way of playing and league cup finals don’t come along often
4. Mowbray- not enjoyed watching the lads play as much in such a long time
5. Controversial Bruce - similarly for the early drinking days but thought we had a chance of competing in the top level with decent transfers (unfortunately didn’t get anywhere)
1. Stokoe...brief glory glory days. Living the dream.
2. Durban....had some great ideas:the football Worthington, James and Rowell played was the best I've seen until Tony's Tyros 'performance against Reading last year.
3. Mowbray ...gave us so much - self-respect, belief and hope.
4. Neil...got us out of purgatory.
5. Reid...started well but came to believe his own publicity...screwed up badly after taking us to second in the Prem at the turn of the millenium. Set the club back 20 years and counting.

1. Peter Reid,
2. Denis Smith,
3. Big Sam,
4. Roy Keane,
5. Mick McCarthy,
6. Tony Mowbray,
7. Alex Neil.

Interesting to note that all of the above were quite similar characters on the football pitch!
