Reading a decent book by Sandy Chuff, no bigging it up, told it as it was. If you don’t like the 80’s footy violence then don’t read the rest of the thread. Was at RP for Benno’s testimonial in ‘85 and know exactly what went on. What I didn’t know was about our lads turning up 4 years later at another testimonial, this time at Ibrox. In his book he stated Mackem’s were in a Glasgow boozer after the match (Blue nosed pub) and gave as good as they got. Anyone there? Again, if you don’t like the content move on

Went to the home game. As I was walking to the match with my mate, a white transit van with a Union Jack in the back window and Chelsea written on it, drove past us and pulled over about 100 yards ahead next to two blokes and a kid about 6 who were wearing colours. Two lads jumped out the back and smacked the two blokes. Jumped back in the van and drove off. Kid was in bits.
Is this the type of thing you were wanting to hear about mate?

Some of the younger lads will be adding this to their halycon hoolie days wank bank.

Sunderland were all over Glasgow that day and in a lot of their clubs where we were welcomed. SCF more than held their own that day, it’s been well documented.
When we played them at Roker for Bennett’s testimonial there was a lot of attention on the two lads who got slashed in Digbys (allegedly by Chelsea fans who had links with Rangers at the time) but once word got round and Sunderland and Vauxies and others turned out late afternoon Rangers were quiet as the next edition of their main fanzine Follow Follow mentioned one their next editorial namechecking Vauxies, BOSS ( Boys of South Shields) and the Washington Redskins.
SAFC OK.
I don't think football violence was on the agenda of BOSS? Could be wrong though...

In 1982 I went on my first lads holiday to Arenal, Majorca and there was a drinking hole dedicated to a combination of (iirc) 2 out of the 3 from 'Geordies, Jocks and Scousers' - the name of the place escapes me (as it'd then be obvious which of the 2 it was). Called in for a beer during the day and don't think I've ever felt so intimidated. Full of blokes waiting for something to kick off, barely a woman in sight. Didn't stay long and suspect it would have been a bit lively at night. Anybody on here been, or recollect the place
