Random car question

Depends on age and electronic sophistication. You may need to press Brake and or clutch together or on their own.

Check bonnet release catch, make sure it’s shut.

Could be a sensor issue with car refusing to accept that the brakes are on.
On an AUTOMATIC?

Mini cooper s has 2 clutches and it's an automatic, one clutch lines up the even numbers and the other lines up the odds.

My point was really that it may be a sensor issue - the car not recognising the brakes are on therefore not releasing the gearbox.

I am aware that an auto does not have a clutch pedal.
So in your post when you said “You may need to press Brake and or clutch together or on their own”

How do you press the clutch on its own in an automatic?

The Mike Brewer programme, trading up or whatever it is called, sure he bought a mini same issue. Turned out it just needed some oil topping up, can't remember exactly but it was a strange solution.

Yes, oil is a rather strange solution.

What year astra? I had a 54 astra with the triptronic gears so it was auto. Its simply a manual gear box but with a unit attached to it that changes the gears. Possibly same thing on new engines? There is a company that revamps them for couple hundred quid rather than few grand for new one
