Yes they did get it big style, i remember one of them trying to climb over the fence but got dragged back and got his lumps. We had joined up with some of them outside KX first game of season - Sunderland United. Iirc it was the Cockney Reds at Blackpool who were giving it the biggun.... & got it![]()

Those were dangerous times mate, no matter where you went, even RP and your own fans ffsI thought the same at the time
I stood at the bus stop outside ground & got waved at by the Moorcock bus ( forerunner of FW’s) with the local nutters around me ( well all 4 of them).

We had trouble a few times going away with Tennicks, his coaches were from Nottingham, caused all kinds of botherI got nutted by one of our lot in ‘73 at Hull cos of my Yorkshire accent ( week before cup final?)
A townie called Donk ( who I got to know) grabbed me by the throat when we chased boro out the RE around ‘76 ? - again my fucken Yorks accent![]()
Reet, I'm bored of listening to myself moan so lets take our mind off things.
Wolves away February 1998. Wolves 0 Sunderland 1. We arrived early and got rounded up by the plod and put in the ground, bastards. Bally winner in the 88th minute which yours truly had a fiver on, only to find the bookies had closed in the ground.![]()
double bastards. I had to wait until the Monday and go into the town to cash my bet. The goal was class though and there was limbs all over the shop. Robbie Keane and Don Goodman played up front for them that day and a young lad called Chris Lumsdon made one of only 4 appearances for us.

One of the grounds that we seem to get a result at over the years. Although I'm sure someone will correct me.Class trip. The following season was just as good when Phillips levelled in stoppage time
If either of you could read or write, you could do a bookRemember them well, waiting for them at all sorts of places.
A lad on here, Shef - @Parsoncross & me could give ya some tales from our 45+ yrs travelling. Him alone from Sheffield & me from Wakey ( but usually together)

my favourite season ever following the lads!!! Some amazing away days far better than the sanitised stuff we put with now.Chesterfield away, Saltergate 1987.
Having finished my pint I left the pub, crossed the road, walked over the grass verge of a roundabout and was spotted by 5 but Spirites fans. A roar went up and they started to chase me, being a fast runner back then I managed to get away by throwing my white, silk, black and red pinstripe scarf into a front garden and making my escape through a housing estate, as I would have been given a serious kicking if they had of caught me.
At the match, stood on that open terrace behind the goal packed with SAFC fans, and SAFC to our right to on that terrace, it kicked off during the game and also after the match in the dark, walking down that hill by the ground, with police sirens going off all over the place.
That '87-'88 season it kicked off at most away days, and was always edgy to and from the ground.
My favourite decade for away days following the lads, especially the height of the casuals/wedge haircut period circa '83-'87.
