Reet, I'm bored of listening to myself moan so lets take our mind off things.

Wolves away February 1998. Wolves 0 Sunderland 1. We arrived early and got rounded up by the plod and put in the ground, bastards. Bally winner in the 88th minute which yours truly had a fiver on, only to find the bookies had closed in the ground.  double bastards. I had to wait until the Monday and go into the town to cash my bet. The goal was class though and there was limbs all over the shop. Robbie Keane and Don Goodman played up front for them that day and a young lad called Chris Lumsdon made one of only 4 appearances for us.

wycombe away, october 2019. went for the night against my better judgement as we had been utter shit for months. got picked up at 7am and jumped in back of car still in my pijamas with my clothes in my bag and 4 cans of cider, only to realise 5 hours later upon arrival at our digs that i'd forgot my trousers. went or a pint at half time and didn't get back in till 60 mins. we were utter shite. don't have any redeeming memories of the match. had a belter little night out, hardly had any kip, took 6 hours to drive home. questioned own sanity. collected my tickets for shrewsbury away and 2 nights away the following weekend

We parked in a one way street next to a radgy pub. Had to drive out there quickly as there was a few meat heads in there at the end. :)

Everton 0-2 Sunderland in 2015 under Advocaat.

Danny Graham scored his only goal for us trying to jump out the way of a Jordi Gomez shot clearly going about ten yards wide to put us 1-0 up. Steven Fletcher then dragged John Stones to ground as the ball rolled to Johnson who fired a shot across goal that hit an offside Defoe on the hip and in off his hand to put us 2-0 up despite getting battered for the whole game. Everton hadn't lost at home in about five months or something.

That win probably kept us up, was hungover and felt miserable as fuck all the way down thinking it was the day that was gonna put the nail in our coffin and it ended up with great scenes in the away end all second half.

2nd January 2008 8 pm kick off we lost 1-0 at Blackburn. The coldest match I’ve ever been to. We were as usual shyte.
We had a lovely drive over the a 66 as the sun was setting but it was bitterly cold. The first time I heard the song “ Better” by Tom Baxter. Brilliant.
We stayed over four of us, one of us played for Carlisle. We had a good night out but the performance on the pitch was anything but “ Better”

Locals didn’t take the defeat too well, very dicey outside afterwards

Did you go in the bootlegger opposite the station?

Unreal day that was.

Remember it well. I've never really liked Wolves fans tbh and always found them precious. I remember them being unhappy because we were sat amongst them in colours for Jody Craddocks testimonial. It was a charity game, they had just won league one and we were virtually safe. It was supposed to be a laugh, but these fuckers were taking it seriously.

That was the day the M62 was closed. I got in at half time, watched 45 minutes of football, seen Danny Graham score and was back in the car. I think I was in Liverpool for about an hour, but it took 7 hours to get there.

Felt like death warmed up all that match , couldn’t get warm at all , jumped in the car to drive back , left me jacket on all the way back , gloves as well , heated seats on , and still couldn’t get warm .

Rochdale 1-1 Sunderland under 23's lost on pens. Checkatrade Trophy 2016.

Me, @MEEKLANGLEYFTM and Rollsy decided to go to for two reasons. 1) We didn't envisage the Checkatrade Trophy lasting in that format for one season so it was a bit of a weird badge of honour to say 'I was there'. 2) We said, 'well, it's not like we'll play at Rochdale anytime soon, so would be good to tick a ground off the list. Oh how wrong we were on both counts😂

From what I remember the young lads played very well on the night and Elliot Embleton capped off a lovely goal to put us 1-0. Kirckhoff made one of his many injury returns and Jason Denayer made his debut. Halcyon days indeed😎

Snow all the way back the next day. The cold that night was unbearable.

I think I supped at the North Wolverhampton Social Club or something similarly named. The Wolves lads were canny.

I remember one bloke sitting by a table next to me. Could only have been in his mid 20's but was morbidly obese. At least 25 clem. Massive moobs.

His Wolves shirt had the sponsors logo worn away, so it was evident he wore it every day. He had this big sarnie and downed a pint in one so his buddy would get another one in. All while playing dominoes. He chuckled a lot and a smile never left his face.

I thought that in probably any other social situation he would have the piss ripped out of him for his body size. But here, he was simply one of the lads, no judgement, another decent supporter.

In these days of racism being depressingly the norm, that time reminded of me of what football can do, bringing everyone together no matter what, on a scale that no other thing can match in this country. It was a good day out for much more than the win, that day.

17th August 1985 ....Portsmouth away....midweek game, second game of the season.

Still feeling the McMenemy effect, although after losing the first game of the season at home to Blackburn it had worn off a bit.

Mid-morning pick up on Harry Hutch's supporters bus. Arrived about 5ish and had a couple of pints of strange Southern beer in a pub very close to the ground.. I was only 17 so it all felt a bit illicit.

0-0 at half-time, but 3 second half goals for Portsmouth meant a very quiet trip back home, arriving at about 5am. Left for work about an hour later. There is something particularly grim about travelling home in the small hours after you've lost.

Was that Whitehead’s woeful penno miss?
It felt a damn sight colder than the Stoke away match when the blizzard came , that took over 7 hours to get back from .
I never made it home. Snow was supposed to start at 3pm but started at 12.15. Ended up in the Prem Inn at Uttoxeter.
A50 got shut completely.
Folk kipping all over the restaurant the following morning when I emerged for Brekkie, having been given shelter for the night.

Rotherham in the cup 98. Won 5-1. Super Kev got 4. I jumped on a lads back when we went 3-1 up. He was about 6'2" and built like brick shithouse. He calmly said to me " gan easy youngun, I came off my motorbike on Tuesday" I loked down and he had a neck brace on and his arm was in plaster.
