I've got a Senior Railcard. Never seen it as cheap as £50 return. I've also got to get into London too. When up for the Man Utd game got it all for £90 return which was pretty good. But I stayed up for a few days. Will need to be organized to buy the advance tickets. Using the Trainline app. If anyone wants to suggest a better one, let me know. Will be doing it a fair bit next season, while I'm fit enough.Do you travel alone or with family/friends. The “two together” railcards (£30) give you a 30% discount. We regularly do Durham to Kings X for around £100 return for two.
Grand Central look more expensive than LNER and fewer options. The booking fee is normally a couple of quid and they do split save tickets too. I'll be trying a few places to get a decent price when fixtures are firm.Don't buy from Trainline, they often charge booking fees. Buy direct from Grand Central up to 6 months ahead. Not too useful to be honest with so many games being moved for TV and our games after Europe being on Sunday or Monday... Check the refund options as they changed recently. PL fixtures are out on 15th June I think.
