Yes from me. I think it would be great!Good evening all,
I’m trying to do some research in to rail seating, specifically the idea of having it installed in the Roker End.
Would you be for or against having rail seating/safe standing installed?
Mods - would it be possible to get a poll added?
Cheers
He literally didn't.
Correct. The could suggest that you meant that did 30 hours of work at the SOL for non football club related stuff.I said “the stewards didn’t just do SAFC”.
Sunderland hire their own stewards.
.
That's definitely not true for the vast majority of stewards.
Yep. The job advert even describes it as a "matchday' role that 'could be balanced with your main job or other commitments'.

Granted you did say something about dpd etc in the third sentence which I didn't even read.
That said, the vast majority of stewards do it for supplemental income and didn't change career because if covid, like perhaps a significant amount of taxi drivers did.
I agree mate. The vast majority are match day only and are often kids and old folks.
Things may have changed but the club did however employ more senior stewards that worked more hours than just a match day. They would often work around the SOL and AOL (plus club events) and received better training (inc qualifications)
I suspect these are the ones the op refers to and quite possibly have been gotten rid of/left over the last few years

I said you literally didn't say it in the first sentence (as someone claimed). So you said that I didn’t say it, now accept I did say it but have taken something else from it.
He seems to be talking about the agency staff specifically. He reckons they got 30+ hours a week (all over the place not just stadium of light) and all moved on to new careers during covid.
Maybe he's got an anecdotal example, but there's no way that's typical.

The simple fact is, hardly any safety stewards, employed by SAFC or otherwise, changed careers because of covid. Maybe a handful did, but it'll be insignificant.
Dear lord this is becoming painful. The people they used to use as stewards now have jobs at other places so are unable/choose not to do stewarding.
Source - Steve Neil. Sunderland AFC stadium safety officer. It’s an entertainment industry wide problem that they’re struggling to get experienced safety stewards.
We'll just agree to disagree. Maybe there is a recruitment issue, but it'll be more likely Brexit related than covid imo. I don't buy for one second that many safety stewards changed careers because of covid.
There are 2 types of steward. Ones employed by Sunderland and ones who are agency (alpha security I believe).
Sunderland’s stewards are in charge and direct the agency lot. The agency staff are the ones who are far less experienced than pre-covid.
