Raheem Sterling to set up multi-million pound foundation for disadvantaged kids.

£1 million is a large amount but Sterling is not going to struggle without it
It equates to about a months wage

If a person on this board donated a months wage he would have to make a lot of sacrifices

A £1 million pound donation wont change Sterlings lifestyle in the slightest

This is exactly why it’s best for figures not to be mentioned when discussing donations.

Charity-shaming someone over a £1m donation? Really?

Mesut Ozil must be one of the most demonised characters in recent years all because Arsenal regretted their business decision and tried to change the narrative to get him out.

Wasn't there something with him and a Turkish leader and he was heavily criticised for that?

You're spot on like, seems a decent bloke, ostracised at Arsenal because they pay him a huge sum and he doesn't run around loads.

Hard to believe that people like you still exist.

Its nout but a publicity stunt, am not buying it, still dislike the bloke.

I like Rashford on the other hand so ita nothing to do with race

How can you possibly know that’s its a publicity stunt?

How you can yo dislike a bloke you don’t even know?

We can’t possibly know either way, so why make them comments?

Well yeah your last sentence is probably right

But it’s still a good thing to give 1 million don’t you think?

Your first question the answer is obvious. He’s either jealous of him or doesn’t Want anyone Who isn’t white English being better off than him. It’s a common thing. There’s absolutely no need to dislike him. He’s a sportsman who has absolutely no impact on his life.

There was the Chinese Muslims as well. Ozil raised awareness and criticised the situation. Arsenal condemned him by saying that they don't get involved in politics whilst saying nowt about Bellerin and his "fuck Boris" outburst. They were trying to make Ozil feel uncomfortable enough to leave so they didn't have to pay him off. Arsenal used to be a great club but Kroenke is only interested in money.

As well as donating millions of his own money, he’s asking his club and main sponsors to match his commitment.

Pretty outstanding effort and will work alongside Rashford’s work, with Rashford feeding people and Sterling giving them an education and jobs.

Footballers get a bad rep based on the actions of a small minority. Between this, what Rashford did and Henderson leading fundraising for the NHS - on top of the humongous amounts of tax they pay - I hope this sees footballers becoming great role models again.

However, the fact that the country with world’s 6th largest economy needs to bailed out by private citizens is a damning indictment of the sitting government.

But let’s not take attention away from what is a brilliant and selfless gesture - Manchester and Liverpool really showing the rest of the country what empathy looks like.

Absolutely agree.

Outstanding gesture from the lads you mention. Was it Mata who started up some give as you earn scheme and loads of other players followed? They pay a huge amount of money in tax to HMRC. The government then pisses it away to their mates who have set up tin-pot PPE supply companies but don't give any where it is desperately needed to feed children who are going to go hungry over Christmas without some short-term help.

Seems to me that the players have recognised this and done something about it by giving and raising money directly where it is needed most and sod the inept and out of touch government.

On a far, far smaller scale I do something similar. Hundreds rather than millions... but it still helps people, it makes me feel human again, and it helps sooth the anger and contempt I feel for our dreadful government.
