24/7 isolation and limited access to light.

For criminals who have non-conforming views our prison system could become a cross between Papillon and Guantanamo Bay.

Get our friends in Saudi Arabia to build a nice prison, pay them to staff it and ship "our" radicals over there for a taste of Saudi style Sharia Law.

Well extremists in prison have always targeted the young, mixed-up criminal element with an identity and sense of meaning, purpose and protection. Same shit, different clothes innit?

I think there has to be a fundamental recognition that prison deserves a peripheral place in criminal justice and that more intelligent, focused solutions to crime and punishment are needed to address the issue at its roots, but the base urges are very strong and so that won't be happening in my lifetime.

She reverted to being the spoilt brat she always was when the cops got her.
People will take the easy way out if it means life is easier .
Despite the tv shows the vast majority have no bottle or morals when the bite is on them.
Mbh would no doubt turn to water if captured by isis. He'd be yodelling allah incantations with the best of them if it meant not getting hurt.
So people becoming tribalised and radicalised in prison...oh surprise surprise ita save my skin time
 
In the late 80's/90's the prison Imams were a right bunch of troublesome fuckers.

It's the Imams that should be checked out before been allowed in to take the religious teachings.
 
Happens with all criminals though really.

Mix in a load of wronguns with another load of wronguns and you'll produce better ones.
 
Anything that puts a load of like-minded, easily lead criminals together is a bad thing. These are vulnerable people having their minds altered by manipulative psychos.

Just like in regular society, only when people are integrated, then they are rational peaceful human beings.

Not just Islamic extremism. Massive problem with the far right in UK prisons.

Solution is, at least in part, actually funding our prisons properly. R
