None of those would raise any eyebrows if on whatsapp. Not many smiles either but they aren’t terrible.
I've said this already, but I'll say it again.
WhatsApp - Private conversation, which granted can get shared wider if someone is vindictive.
Twitter and other social media - put out to the public for EVERYONE IN THE WORLD to see.
If you pictured a black bloke then maybe you have the issue. It could easily just have been some white bloke coughing next to him on the train or something.
The colour of the person's skin is irrelevant. The point was he was making light of something that ended up killing over 11,000 people.
Would it have been any less offensive or more, if he'd said "The person next to me definitely has lung cancer"?
