Quote function not working on desktop version

On mobile, if you want to copy and paste a quote from one thread to another, you just have to click reply, copy what appears on the reply box, and then paste it in to the reply box on the thread you wish to paste the quote into.

On desktop, this doesn't work. Instead it appears in plain text.

Please can this be fixed? It's only started happening since the recent forum update.

Just realised that you have to press the square brackets on the right hand side of the reply box

It's a general thing across mobile and desktop and has caught quite a few people out.

If the icons across the top of the post editor are greyed out and not functioning (or in your case, you are seeing the quotes in plain text and surrounded by

[quote] [/quote]

it means that at some point you have selected the BBCode mode which allows you to enter the Code instead of using icons (it really dates back from the days before WYSIWYG editors on Bulletin Boards). When you use the icons, it automatically puts the code in and formats the text for you.

To switch between the 2 modes, as you have found, you press the "[ ]" at the top right of the editor box.
