That is the key thing of most conspiracy theories around this sort of stuff. They don't understand and fundamental to a lot of it is the idea of scale and size.So basically, what you're saying here is that you just dont understand.
Your repeated insistance on keeping the viewpoint level is just nonsensical.
If you point a telescope at the sun, firstly you're an idiot, but more relevant here is that you would have to continually adjust the tilt to keep the sun in view, and yes, someone with a higher viewpoint will be able to see the sun set fractionally longer than you at ground level. That's not a problem with the global, it's a result of it.
Only in your own imaginary flat-ish world where the sun moves over and around and off into the distance would you be able to keep the scope pointed towards it without constant adjustment.
The earth is massive and the amount of curve in the 5km we can see (standing at sea level) is only a tiny percentage of the earth, and that is difficult for them to comprehend. I'm sitting here with an orange as part of my lunch. If I hold it right up to my eye I can see so much curve. But there is no way (unless I start to look through a drinking straw and get really funny looks) to see such a small fraction of it similar to what we see of the earth. Even if you try to work out that fraction and put 5/40,075 in a calculator, that gives 1.247660636306925e-4, to a lot of people that is a 'what the fuck does that mean' answer. Then you have the spin, "Why can't we feel it?". We spin at half the speed of an hour hand on a clock which we can't see move, and if you put an ant on it, it doesn't get flung off.
As people, we are tiny specs on a massive planet, which is itself a tiny spec in our solar system. It is a lot to get your head round, it is mindblowing. I can see why people struggle. Some try to overcome that struggle, some accept and ignore, some build their own fantasy and insist it is all a lie and those who claim truth are out to get them.
