Purchasing camera in America

I've done it the other way round if that helps! I bought my Sony dslr in the uk and have since moved to North America. Been here a couple of years now and had no problems with it with power etc.

You'd need to bu a UK charger I think.

The biggest issue with buying from here (if you're in the UK) is the warranty, but that doesn't matter so much on a used camera.

Done it a few of times.

Great way of saving money, but the downside is the relative lack of comeback if buying a cheap item (delivery costs make returns more problematic), and the risk if it's an expensive item.

I bought my D2X body from a eBay seller in the States - I eventually got a brilliant camera for about half the cost than buying in Ireland, but the 3 week wait for delivery was nerveracking. In that instance I had it marked as a gift to avoid customs charges, which made it all the more risky.

Well I will be in America soon so thought I might even buy new?

Warranty....what are the chance sof it going completely pop in the first year.

Say for a Nikon D80
