Pulled over doing 101mph on motorway

I've seen plenty of birds in blue Subarus but never black Seats. However the blue Subarus may have black seats.

Maybe there aren't any black Subarus?

The blue ones with rally writing seem to have limiters that don't let them do less than 90 :)

I always pull over to stop them getting past

I'm not looking for sympathy, I was caught fair and square and obviously have made a mistake.

They had me on a time distance machine over 2mins and 101 was the average speed. They said it was collaborated that day. I pretty much admitted guilt on their statement but I opted out of signing it.

Does anyone know what I should expect or has this happened to anyone else?

I am told they will send me a summons and I will have to go to court (more than likely when i am supposed to be on holiday). Does anyone know if what fine, points, ban I am likely to get? Is it worth getting a solicitor?

Any advise would be appreciated!

Just tell them you didn't know who was driving the car that day.

Sounds like sheer bollocks to me. And there's more accidents on rural roads....what are they related to then?

See - there's the problem. There's loads of reasons accidents happen, but people can't see past speed.

There's two fundamental causes of accidents apart from excess speed for the conditions - mechanical failure and bad driving.

Bad driving can be broken down into many things, inappropriate speed for the conditions aside. Overtaking when you shouldn't being a major one. Not seeing hazards. Pulling out when not safe. Tailgating. Pushing the car past its handling limits, driving in a manner beyond the driver's skill level...

There's a lass takes her kids to the same school as my Daughter in one and you're right. I have managed to slow her down a few times but she's mental Kids in the car or not.

i think i've probably been done today by one of those camera vans.
coming back from penrith on the a66 in the wagon on the limiter(56) in the dual carriageway bit slowed down to about 50ish when it became single carriageway and then saw it in the distance but i think it was too late.
hgv's are only allowed to do 40 on a single carriageway so methinks i've got a nerve wracking few weeks waiting for the letter.
not complaining mind, i'll have been done fair and square.

Subaru Impreza drivers are almost invariably pricks.

Especially blue ones with hideous gold wheels, you know the sort. No doubt there are exceptions to the rule, but I've yet to see one. As if bad taste in cars wasn't enough, they have to drive like cretins as well. No doubt they're jealous of Evo owners.

You can't tell me just 4% of rural accidents are related to speed. Bullcacka

Both speed related

Why were you going that fast marra? There's a speed limit for a reason.

The speed limit on a motorway was introduced when the stopping distance was poor. However modern day cars stop a lot quicker and safer. It long over due a review on motorway speed limits.
I agree in built up areas 20/30 or even 40 is more than enough and anyone speeding in them zones should face huge fines. The motorway is different it should be a 90mph limit. Then if you do 100mph+ then again huge fines

 I'd have just run him over whilst pretending the sun was in my eyes

Would you not have crashed into a roundabout instead? ;)

I'm fine with it.

Apparently only 4% of accidents on rural roads are speed related. I love driving in a spirited manner on country roads, but you have to use common sense. Don't drive faster than you can see to stop if something pulls out.

It really sharpens your senses and your driving skills, and keeps you on your toes. I much prefer it to motorway driving, which is tedious and unchallenging most of the time.

On a similar note, I see the traffic nazis have put limits and calming measures on top of Lizard Lane now. The f***ing spoilsports. I imagine they must be members of the golf club who need to get across the road to the 19th a couple of seconds sooner, cos I can't see any other reason for doing this

There's a difference between excessive speed for the conditions and exceeding the number on a stick. I don't think anyone questions the wisdom of avoiding the former.

Such an ironic name, innit?

It's a top quality bit of traffic calming that mind.

20 along a nice flat bit of road, and then the first thing you reach after you hit the 40 zone? A huge blind summit heading into Mardsen.

Anyone who doesn't know the area will speed up, gan over the hill nice and fast, and probably end up buried in the E6.

Got my court date today, would have had it sooner but the numpties posted my summons to the wrong address!!

Its going to be on the last day of my holiday. Rather than request an adjournment I decided to cut my holiday short by a day. Come home early and go to court, that way I don't have to let the boss find out at work!!

Seems like i am looking at a ban of up to 56 days and a fine up to £450.00. And sky high insurance for the next 5 years.

Lesson learnt!!

I have driven at the speed limit religiously ever since and whilst I admit 101mph is excessive (a bit anyway) the limit is far to slow. It takes massive concentration just to keep the car slow enough!!

Thanks for all your comments and advice from Waxon!
