Winger
just found out last night that i have a pic published in this weeks Journal culture magazine, well chuffed about it...anyone else managed to get any success in getting there pics published in local papers or anything?

er, pics?

I've had a few published in trade magazines, the biggest being Oil & Gas Journal about two years ago. It was a picture of a seismic crew at work, very dull.

aye, even if its dull its still great to see though isn't it and gives you a buzz at the same time.

it was this one

took at the abandoned steetly magnesite in hartlepool under the last full moon, actually it's the second time the journal have used a pic of mine, would be nice if they would atcually inform people though as had to rely both times on friends telling me about it.

have also had a few pics of my trainers published in various sneaker/trainer things, the best one im most chuffed about is seeing a double page spread in a quite stunning book that was made for Puma - handmade/suede cover/gold leaf stamped cover branding/limited to only 90 copies & given to a select few people only.

this is from the book and all the shoes in the pic are my own and took by me.

i also blogged about the book, can be seen here for anyone interested, along with some more pics.

I've had one used in an online edition of a regional magazine "dedicated to engaging readers with the urban environments of Canada’s Atlantic provinces"! It was something to do with parking. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

one of my flickr contacts, biskitboy

who specialises in light painting, mainly doing huge balls of light (orbs) was lucky enough to get an article done on him for KLM airways inflight magazine, once it was published it all went mental, had to build himself a proper website and everything as interest in his work was massive, think he sold a fair amount of prints etc from it too, now thats the kind of break i dream about!

Nice one.

I take it you invoiced them at NUJ rates plus extra for publishing without your prior consent.

nahh, when you add the images to the flickr group they are added on the basis that they may use them or something along those lines, not bothered payment or owt from them, would just appreciate a quick email or something to say it was used so that i can actually buy a copy of the damn thing, lol.

Aye i had one published that I posted on here ages ago. I was like a celebrity at work - either old expats who know no better or the support staff from pakistan and the philippines... love there photography they do.

Great feeling really irrespective of size of the paper / mag. Just good to know someone else liked that you done.

PS: great pic mate ;)

You didn't win the Port of Tyne competition a few years ago with a similar picture of Steetly.
It looks very familiar.

Congrats Clyde.

I've had half a dozen or so published in magazines and papers and three shown on TV.

I found that journal cutout from months back on me desk at work last week - it's in me car so remind me on next time I see you!!
