Pub getting raided

We were sitting in a Indian restaurant in Nottingham when the police raided it for serving alcohol without a license.
Had to confirm we had been served drink and give our contact details then told to leave.
Free curry for most people.

Witnessed my first what I would call proper raid by the police last night in Lloyds bar Durham. From my vantage point they blocked the exits off then sent the sniffer dogs in. Was quite amusing seeing about 30-40 solemn people getting frog marched out about 10 minutes later. Been in a few boozers where the odd copper has been walking about but nowt as organised as what I seen yesterday. Anyone witnessed out similar in the past?
Happened to us in the colleseum in Norton in 94 or 95?
Loads of cops. Bouncers fighting them. Loads of drugs thrown all over the floor .

Absolutely pointless unless targeting the suppliers

The police will be under pressure to make arrests to hit targets or make their leadership look good. The Xmas drug driving stops is the biggest con. It’s almost zero tolerance on narcotics meaning people who are not under the influence but carry traces in their system so get their lives turned upside down so the police can publish numbers. Have the equivalent of a couple of pints in your system and you are ok.

I agree. Banning people who havnt touched a drug for 2 days plus. I suppose that’s a risk you take

I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of people under 40 think that the war on drugs is a massive waste of time and money.
I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of people think it's a waste of time and money, full stop. Most of my mates are 50+ now and, although not many still dabble, I don't think many of them are against some form of drug law moderation.

I'm gobsmacked that people actually think like this
It's nuts, a massive amount of crime like burglaries, sheds, cars and garages being broke in to are done by local addicts to pay for drugs. When on the rare occasion they get locked up it virtually stops until they get back out again. Drugs cause absolute misery but for some reason they are seen as a bit of harmless fun on here.

Nobody thinks they are harmless fun marra. Many think that the billions of £ in associated profits would be better spent on rehabilitation and more police resources. Even though they are illegal they are easy to obtain and youngens with insta/snap can buy them as easy as you would buy a pint.

There will always be dregs of society who commit crimes such as burglaries. You can stop the distribution of drugs but it would only open up other avenues of addiction
