Promotion is everything

Promotion isn't everything. No matter which division we're in next season we'll love the club like a brother, so long as we have a set of lads who do their best, on & off the pitch, which (in the main) we do. We all want us to be the best we can be but in a way the division we play in is irrelevant. If people can't bear the fact that we're playing in a division that they consider is somehow beneath our dignity then perhaps they should find something else to do.
I get what you're saying about supporting the club no matter what our situation. But do you really think back to back seasons in league 1 is acceptable? Considering when we were relegated from the premier league the general vibe was 'Oh well win a few games in the championship and get the winning feeling back'.

This shitshow of a competition is distracting people from the absolutely essential goal of promotion. I think questions were, quite rightly, being asked of ross but this has taken the focus off the bang average job he has done. If we win this daft cup and fail to get promoted you will still get the usual clowns defending him saying, " but we won a trophy". So fuck it means nowt!

Promotion is the target for the season, has been since the owners said so in the summer, and Ross is the bloke they have given the task getting us that promotion, owners manager players and supporters all know what is expected, and supporters expect all the others gain said promotion in may... simple as that. not to get up is failure, aka non-fulfilment, of the goal set down by the clubs owners in july.

Disagree, Barnsley win they will more than likely go up. We win it’s still wide open for either. We are under huge pressure now. We showed signs of cracking yesterday.
What bollocks. 4 wins from five and a point against that lot of thuggery yesterday and we are cracking.

If we can win today and beat Barnsley then we are really gaining some momentum and will push Luton all the way .
Cup final great but we can’t afford to not get promoted this season, while we can do both , for me anyway promotion is everything.
Haway the lads .. 3-1 win

Worst thing we could have done was get to final- players now dont want to get injured as they are unlikely to play a cup final at wembley ever again- we have to win play off final i reckon- netflix demands it

Anyone who does not think the win on Tuesday and the forthcoming game at Wembley for, aka, the Tinpot cup (under 21s take part, demeaning it even further) did not affect the team physically and mentally.. for yesterday's game at Wycombe..???

We can but hope there is a reaction on Tuesday... a Barnsley win will make it very difficult to get automatic promotion..

Likewise the prospect of yet another season in the 3rd division, or for even longer.. is just!!!

Barnsley is easily the biggest game of the season. IMO who wins that goes up.
I think it's a case of "must not lose" on Tuesday rather than must win. There are still so many games to play that nothing will be decided on Tuesday
Lose and we make it very, very hard for ourselves but nothing is won or decided in March

Imagine Mighty Sunderland 6 top flight titles (4 before 1900) 6 wins against Mags Needing to beat Barnsley in Third Division game just to have hope of promotion And fans getting excited about winning Third Division cup.
Protests going well? Ashley a good bloke now?:lol:

Don't think I've seen anyone excited about the third division cup. Massively looking forward to a piss up in London and a trip to Wembley aye, as a fan you've got to enjoy playing a cup game at Wembley, but hardly anyone has mentioned the game itself. It's all about the weekend for most. The vast majority know it's a crap competition, the sheer fact we even have to enter it just further highlights the incompetence of those running the club over the last decade prior to the takeover. If we win, I'll not exactly be celebrating and going mental. Equally if we lose I'll be over it by the time I'm back in the car park. Nice, relaxing weekend on the piss in London with a cup (well, trophy) final at Wembley, canny. Any other time you go to Wembley you're absolutely bricking it because of how important the game is, quite canny that this one means fuck all in the grand scheme of things

Is your life really this bad, that you feel the need to log in here to get bites?

You must be a loner with no mates if this gets you a buzz

Very bizarre

No but if Pinnock is out at any point we’re fucked, Moore & McGeehan are massive misses for Tuesday and Friday and not having them could cost us in them two games, but for the other teams in this league our squad is far better than most, even without them two.
I see our captain is now banned for the game on Tuesday. The authorities doing everything in their power now to make sure that Barnsley go up. Favouratism towards the big teams.

Aye well put it this way, winning a cup is not something you’ll have to worry about this season.

You're kidding, aye? He got sent off for that bloody stupid mêlée in injury time; of course he's banned.

I tend to agree - although it’s a great day out for the fans, i think it ‘could’ distract us from the main focus this season. Would be a real shame if it did, for the sake of a non-important trophy?
