Prog Rock?

  1. Was anyone into it? I wasn't really but saw ELP & Yes a couple of times and bought one or two LPs. Never got into Genesis into a bit later.

Always preferred guitar rock although Yes & Genesis did have great guitarists.

Yes it is surprising how many of them stood the test of time. I'm very personally surprised, for example, that none of them did.;)

I'm more into the modern prog rock like Dream theatre and Steve Wilson but I really like Rush.

  9. Used to deliver regularly to Genesis' recording studio in Chiddingfold between 2001-2004.

Seeing the gold discs on the wall of the reception area is about as close to one I've probably got.

Virtually all unlistenable twaddle by pallid virgins who'd have done us all a favour had they stuck to playing Risk

Liked some of it. Genesis "Nursery Cryme", Yes "Fragile", Jethro Tull "Aqualung". Like any genre has it's good & bad.

Being brought up on punk it was anathema to me, but I've got right into Henry Cow and related acts recently.

    Never fucking Genesis though.

Yes, still listen to it now. Yes, Genesis up until then there were three, Floyd etc. Yes being my favourites when i was a kid.
For anyone into early Genesis these are well worth going to see. As close as you'll get to the early shows.Playing the city hall in October.

Amon Duul, Van Der Graaf Generator, the Planet Gong. It was a pretty broad church musically at its height.
