No need for Davies mate. Bairstow is a wicketkeeper anyway so he'll be Prior's backup, I imagine.

Meaker/Onions

Root as backup opener, Taylor/Bairstow competing for extra batting spot, Panesar as the extra spinner, Meaker or Onions as the extra seamer. Personally I'd go for Meaker as he's 90mph+ which could be useful on the shite subcontinent pitches.

Root for me, without a doubt. Strauss' natural replacement in a couple of years and probably a future England captain.
