Poyet Pleads For New Personnel

So you are chuffed our manager has said this? Which bits are right btw?

As a nature lover I adore bumble bees but I'd quite happily douse you in pesticide.
Now, now, have a debate and not resort to insults or threats.

Practice what you preach....

So pleased you've wholeheartedly committed yourself to being a great fan of Gus. Try not to let your vanity interfere with reasoned debate hereafter.
Reasoned debate? You're the one who keeps telling people to answer respectfully and not swear etc. Then you can't even do it yourself. I can't take you seriously...

Well if Gus came out and spouted platitudes about how he's happy with the squad he's got we'd all think he was a moron and/or treating us like morons.

We can all see the issues. I think Gus has been polishing turds for most of his 15 months, and even the decent players aren't getting any younger.

Congleton shifted some deadwood but his recruitment record is actually worse than De Fanti's. At least De Fanti seemed able to spot/get in some decent loans...

This is the last throw of the dice to get a couple of decent players in or even a happy clapper like me can see we're quite likely to go down...

Gus is right

We need a major squad overhaul and everybody knows it.

This squad is only going to lead to relegation.

He performed a miracle last season, he may save us again this, and maybe even next season.

But it’s inevitable – with this squad we’re going down, it’s only a matter of time.

So let me get this straight

People on here moan and keep saying players are needed so gus comes out and says exactly that and he's slated for it

Some of you need to sit in a dark room lock the door and live out your life their
There's a huge difference. We moan and the players either never see/hear it or think it's just some twat on a message board, what do they know? He says it and his whole team and everybody in the league they're going to play against knows that their boss (coach or manager) thinks they're shite! What sort of motivational technique is that? The man's a f***ing disgrace!

I agree. What we need is 10 or 11 top class players.

He did NOT save us last season! He gave up after the Spurs match and he's on the verge of doing it again. This time I hope he goes.

As 'head coach' what elements of this debacle are Poyet's fault? Are you suggesting the players are performing better than their limited ability allows due to Poyet's coaching?

Coates, Scocco, Bridcutt, Vergini, Ustari, Buckley were all players Poyet knew very well. I think it's safe to say he had a hand big hand in all of those deals...

“We had to look to people we knew. We had a bit of a relationship with Marcos (Alonso) with the Spanish and we wanted him the year before at Brighton when he went to Fiorentina.

I knew Liam (Bridcutt), I knew Oscar (Ustari) from Argentina and Nacho Scocco as well.

“Every team in South America wanted Scocco but it did not work for whatever reason here. - http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/01/01/sunderland-flop-ignacio-scocco-bemuses-boss-gus-poyet/

On Buckley -
Poyet said: “I am so pleased that he had a very good first half because now everybody knows why I was so consistent in asking the club to bring him.

It took us seven and a half months, but we got him here and now everybody knows why – because he is electric, because he’s direct, because he brings the stands into a different feeling, the atmosphere. - http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/gus-now-that-s-why-i-pursued-buckley-1-6803256

On Coates -
But Poyet rates Coates highly after recommending the centre-half to Liverpool in the summer of 2011, when he was then in charge at Brighton.

Poyet told the Echo: “Sebber is my first Uruguayan here. I had one (on-loan Stoke midfielder, Diego Arismendi) for a month at Brighton.

“I know Sebber, I recommended him to England in the beginning when he came to Liverpool.

“He was a 6ft 3in centre-half, calm on the ball and with aggression.

So we can remove the myth of this conveyor belt of random signings by Congerton, with Gus having no input. It's a cop out, and a shit one, and it's utter bollocks.

I think we have about 5 or 6 genuinely Prem class players and a lot of Champo standard ones of whom maybe another 5 or 6 can get away with it on a good day.
This has now happened to us under head coach after head coach. They have set up this daft DoF system up so the coach has even less responsibility.

The blame can be sorted out later between the players, the coach the DoF and the board.

For now we need to fix it fast or we are going down here - a striker, a creative midfielder and another defender need to come in Jan - loans or purchases I couldn't care,,but we need them badly as we can all see...

Every word he speaks is absolutely spot on.

I'm pleased he brought up the Peter Reid thing too - far too long we have been living in the past.

Cant see why people are getting annoyed either, he's honest, what have we achieved since coming back to the Premier League? nothing, barring a cup final (down to him). We have changed manager at the slightest sign of trouble, meaning upheaval of players, staff and style, and then we go again, hoping for the best, before shitting ourselves again 18 months later - its a continuous cycle.

People are calling for his head, idiotic. It's make or break time for us I think, its time we back a manager and don't shit ourselves when the going gets tough. I'm pleased that Poyet has had the bottle to state a few home truths, and I'll be backing him. We all slate Newcastle and Pardew, but at least Ashley didn't get trigger happy when the going got tough, and they're now ahead of us in terms of recent league positions and structure.

If Poyet was to go, he'd be the third manager in a row to not have a full season in charge - how f***ing pathetic is that?
