Although it hasn't worked out with him so far, it did seem like a canny signing at the time. A potentially quality central midfielder, which is exactly what we still need.

The problem being we can't just spunk 10mil on potential, we needed someone now

it was a hell of a gamble though - I think he's ok but his position is in front of the back four but we needed someone who could play further up - and apparently we could have had Ki for 10. Plus, he doesn't seem to fancy Rodwell too much.

If we don't sign anyone this window he will walk imo.

The worry is though, you could say ' there you go Gus, theres 15m, knock yaself out ' & he goes and brings in Javier Sanchez Gimenez Gomez Perez from FC Burrito in south America and Billy Smith from Brighton

Now...that might not happen & he may persuade Ribery to come. But his playee recors thus far aint great

Fuck yeah....the man has a point.
Poyet was pissing me off, but that statement that tone is apt, it's the truth and it's undeniable, with the exception of Keanes keeping us up and Bruce's 10th it's been same old typical Sunderland , hoping to stay up with no real plan

So thats ok then..if he fucks up he can just blame someone else great

Yeh, that's one thing Sunderland fans don't understand - big transfers don't always work out. Big clubs spend big money all the time, and if half of them work out, its fairly decent.

When we spend £10m, its an event and if it goes wrong, we're fucked.

Flat out ability and readiness to play in this league costs much more than £10m though. Sadly.

Really..Swansea, Stoke West ham, and even the Mags seem to be able to do it

We don't the Ins and out though do we? Gomez, Coates, Alvarez etc might have been 4th choices.

Pulis this season.
Maybe, but that's still debatable
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/may/21/tony-pulis-stokecity
"Stoke City have started their search for a new manager after Tony Pulis's second spell in charge at the Britannia Stadium came to a sour end when he was sacked on Tuesday afternoon. Pulis met with Peter Coates at the Stoke owner's offices and was told that the Premier League club want to move in a new direction.

Later in the day Stoke issued a short statement claiming that they had reached a mutual agreement with the manager that he would leave his post with immediate effect. However, it is understood that Pulis, who had a 12-month rolling contract, was pushed."

true, he hasn't really been backed in the market, £10 million is relatively small beer but for us, like it or not, it's a lot - I don't mind him applying pressure to the board and the players - that's part of his job - but he still made some daft mistakes himself.

I can actually see what he is trying to do and (tin hat on here), I think it has actually worked pretty well away from home and a couple of incidents and decisions etc here and there could easily have seen us sitting on 28-26 points now and being firmly in mid table. Its very narrow margins sometimes in this league.
It certainly is. We're one point off bottom place!!
