Poyet admits he has his work cut out persuading some of his targets to give the North-East a go

The multicultural aspect of London will clearly appeal to foreign players. Vargas, for example, will have far more Chilean/South American or at least Spanish-speaking people to mix with in London, restaurants to go to etc. When a foreign player comes to Sunderland he's pretty much on his own - when you don't speak the language it can get pretty lonely and boring I'd imagine - look at how miserable Scocco looked last season for example.

I've said for years that we're wasting our time with the vast majority of African and South American players, it's just too much of a culture shock and they very rarely settle (there's the odd exception like Arca but generally speaking it's true). British, Irish and Northern European players should be where we look, backed up by a quality youth system (pigs may fly).

Nowt wrong with what Poyet is saying but the Mirror love twisting it to get a dig in at Sunderland.

That joke of a publication is so pro Mag and anti Sunderland it's a joke. They constantly love having digs at Sunderland as a place. Like that time they ran the story about Medina choosing to live in vibrant Newcastle rather than run down Sunderland.

Mind, it's owned by Trinity Mirror who also own the Mackem hating Ronnie Gill.

Are there any quality jocks available? Sunderland is f***ing paradise compared to that dump...!!
Ah now I think of it there is someone up at Celtic who might be just the ticket

been 4 times, one time had to stay 2 weeks.

Biggest shit hole of them all.
It is a majr shithole in places, but if you're earning 30grand a week plus i would imagine it opens up the oppertunity to go to the top places you don't get shown on the open top bus rides. For a foreign player it appeals. Nowt wrong with what we have it's just different to giving someone stupid amount of wedge and say live here for the next 2-3 years. They won't have to see the shit parts if they don't want to on that money

Completely agree re: Arca.

If we ever want these Latino Lovelords to stick around in the North East the solution is quite simple -- get better looking, easier broads working admin at the club.
