Potholes

Go down Sunderland Road past the New Ship Inn down to Harton Nook..fkn disgrace.

Nearby on Moor Lane just down from the petrol station last week.
Two council workers dodging traffic “fixing” potholes, throwing a shovel of tarmac in, a bit of half arsed tamping down.
Most of the potholes are back.

Driving past the ski slope last night, massive puddle in the road. As I went through it, both nearside tyres exploded through the sidewalls. I will be investigating today to see what was beneath the watter. I did not enjoy the experience, and the car is still up there until I can get a pair of 235/60/18's. And I am at the dentist later. FML.

Youre back fella!! - hope all is well apart from the car tyres

I'm not having the best of days to be honest. I will stick around until Frijj and Spug send me into another ragequit by spamming the board sneering at everything they don't like.

On a related note, companies laying fibre broadband who dig up perfectly good pavements and then spend about 20 seconds per hole filling them in while wearing a blindfold with a cheap and - importantly - different colour.
Utility companies should be made to resurface the entire stretch of road they dig, I go to Scotland quite a lot and the people who are building windfarms often have to widen the road, all they do is backfill with gravel, when that washes out the whole road is buggered.

Aye there’s a few when you go past the Sunderland Academy anarl..one in particular just before Moor Lane that takes you to Boldon..I’ve learnt to avoid it.

This is what happens when council budgets are slashed by an ideological government who don’t like the thought of spending on its facilities but would rather give tax breaks to donors.

I hit one the other day and genuinely thought I’d fucked the axle of the car.
I’m not one to stand up for the tories but no matter who is in, the roads have been shocking

I went to the local tyre place yesterday to get a slow puncture repaired but they said that the tyre was fine and the damage was to the wheel itself so I need to take it to a wheel repair specialist. Brilliant.

No idea which pothole caused the damage as there are so many round here but I'm tempted to just take a photo of a big one and use that as evidence.

Went round york ring road coming up to the match yesterday . One stretch leading up to a roundabout was literally like a farm track for ruts and potholes

I thought the roads round here were bad till I went to Edinburgh a few weeks back, must have been just after a cold spell and there were certain roads that you couldnt go any quicker than 5 mph on as there was no 'safe' passage without dropping into a 6" pothole, I say pot hole but it was basically a 3 metre hole. Also one at Kingsgate shopping centre in East Kilbride that must have been close to a foot deep, watching cars go through and it must cause close to a million quid a week damage as its pretty much 1 road in and out.

Just heard back from the wheel repair garage. Both front alloys needs refurbishing. At least it gives me an excuse to work from home for the next couple of days.

I had the same thing, was a crack in the alloy and had to get it repaired. Bought new tyres for the car, but because of the crack it was deflating my tyre. Only cost £60 like.

I haven't had the final bill yet but hopefully it will be similar per wheel. The offside front was so bad that it was losing 10 PSI per day so I had to inflate it every morning. They did a check on the others wheels and the nearside front had a small crack so I told them to do that as well to save me going back when it got worse.
.
Update - got my car back. £160 for refinishing the front two wheels including balancing. Felt like a different car when driving it home.
