Possible to love TWO clubs?

Boro are my club, However I have a kind of second level support for Schalke and Torino. I read a magazine article about Schalke in the 70s
and from then on they were my German team. It was obviously more than a kid thing as I have stuck with them, and been over to see them a few
times. The Torino thing started with a deep loathing for all things Juve and a liking for the shirt colour. watching them when I can on TV my support just kind of
increased. They are almost at the same level as 04 now.

My blood flows deepest Royal Blue....I make no secret of that. My devotion to the Everton Football Club is TOTAL, has been since my old da took me to Goodison back in 1951.
However, there's another club that tugs at old daveyblue's heartstrings, and has done for decades: Sunderland AFC! I still remember seeing pictures of those packed terraces at Roker Park in the Charlie Buchan's Football Monthlys that I used to read so avidly, and wonder just how loud "The Roker Roar" actually was?? (I found out for myself one bitterly cold Saturday in February 1964!!) I'd heard my da telling me about "Shack" and Trevor Ford, and wee Billy Bingham.... how much he loved those games when Sunderland were a1st Division powerhouse. I got to see Sunderland play at Anfield in a second division game around new years 1958... wee Ernie Taylor was inside forward (remember those anyone? ;) ) and the little man got his knickers in a twist about something that had been done or said to him! He grabbed a pile of mud and slung it at the ref!:lol::lol::lol: (or in the general direction of the ref?) I almost pissed meself at THAT! But loved that he wasnt going to be sh*t on by ANYONE!! Sadly Sunderland lost the match, then a few days later came to Goodison for a 3rd round FA Cup tie which Everton won 4-0 (SORRY guys!) I remember Peter Wakeham in the goals, Kitchenbrand, Maltby, Wee Ernie of course! I'm not sure if Charlie was in the side that day, Amby Fogarty was another Sunderland player I knew.
As I've said elsewhere on this forum, I was smitten by the Mackems when I came up the L-O-N-G road north for a cup tie in '64. It (up to that time) was the furthest I'd travelled to see the toffees play. But walking around with the crowds down the narrow streets with all those wee terraced houses that surrounded Roker Park, I felt at home (SO like my own neighbourhood!), even down to getting some ciggies from one of the wee corner shops! The result was CRAP for me, but that day and warmth of the banter and the passion of Mackems has stayed with me! I kicked every ball in that '73 Final! Celebrated like one of YOU!

LOOK! I'll never have the pedigree of you'se folks! (I've a football culture of me own) but yours is always the result I look for after EFC!

Give those blokes from Geordie Arabia a "touch up" in the Cup!! make an old expat Blue happy!!
Remember watching all those that you named there, happy days.

Maybe the question was framed wrong . You can only support one club as the op as clearly said he is a blue .But it's possible to respect/look our for , or have connections with another either via family or shared experience like a great game away where the home fans have been open and accommodating etc. I always thin Man City ,Everton,WBA all share neighbours who are up their own arse ..so I like them

Got a soft spot for Everton , very similar to us
Grand old team

I have a massive soft spot for Everton. Will never forget what you did for Bradley Lowry.
archfiend, that wee boy broke our hearts when he left us 😰 such a brave laddie I'm sure Liverpudlians felt the same way about him! We scousers have a fairly bad rep with many folk, and in some cases it's deserved. However, I like to think that Northern working folk connect when confronted by what that boy and his family went through. SOME things transcend football loyalties!!
OP is definition of scouse mackem
awwww I take your comment as a great compliment 😊 thank you

I like to see both north east teams do well.
Reminiscing in a similar way to the OP it’s a shame the tradition of going to Roker Park one week at ST James’ the next has all but faded out over the years.

Gday Turnip ( from the tip ?🥴) That's a most interesting response mate 😊

Listen lad, I'm of an age were football was a more simple thing! My da was Blue-through-and-through and wouldn't set foot in Anfield! ( even when the toffees played there) but I also had a beloved Uncle (Chas) who was a dyed-in-the-wool Kopite. Charlie and I used to meet up on alternate saturdays at Anfield and Goodison. We followed different clubs but shared a mutual love for the GAME!

First memory of Everton is me uncles coming home from Wembley in '66, one of them disgusted that Wednesday had been the first losing side to do a lap of honour...
"2-0 up and a fooking lap of honour!!!"
My first recollection was The Wednesday side lining up to applaud them onto the pitch when they won the title in '70..we went down.
Proper old school club and old school ground, been three or 4 times, didnt like that away terrace though.
Had some right tussles in the 80's and 90's, one league cup marathon forget which year when it went to several replays, after a draw at Goodison I beleve a coin was tossed for home advantage , Wednesday won and Howard Wilkinson said pre the next game...
"We've done the hard work now, got them at home"

Lost 0-5 lol

Will always be the one team for my Davey, but Everton at the moment will have a lot of Sunderland fans rooting for them because of Pickford.. especially after last night!
Pickford who played more times for Bradford City than Sunderland? 🤣

I was at that wonderful final marra! I went from the depths of despair to the heights of euphoria! Personally, I thought the Wednesday players doing a lap of honour was WONDERFUL! I clapped them when they passed our end, they'd played a part in a classic match there was absolutely NO reason for their heads to drop! Like so many thousands of my fellow Evertonians I celebrated! When leaving Wembley I saw a man (in Owls colours) trying to console his young son who was crying uncontrollably, I saw in that instant just how thin the margin is between agony and ecstasy! I learned then to enjoy the win but not rub salt in!

I've never understood it, although always been a monogamous type 😂 it's stressful enough giving myself to one lass and one football club couldnt get me head around multiple 🤣

at least it was a level playing field back then mate,Wednesday got to quarters or semis quite regularly, we seemed to come up against the Toffees quite a lot,
