I first joined this forum back in I think 2006 and 17 years later it's still going strong and doesn't seem much quieter than when I first joined although I'm sure the numbers are a little down on what they used to be, I don't have the stats but a brief check of other forums that used to be busy are dying a death, RAWK and Redcafe which used to be much busier than here currently has less people on it. So is this message board like the cockroach of football message boards and carry on when all others die? Or is this forum dying a death too and I just haven't noticed?

Like attendances, we have a larger hard core base ;)

It feels a bit quieter, but that’s just my impression.

The change I’ve noticed is that it certainly feels like the average age of posters is increasing. I’m sure we regularly had posts where lads and lasses announced the birth of their nippers.

Now it feels more likely people are announcing another one of us shuffling off this mortal coil.

Erm, but yeah, it’s still a right laugh on here.

This board is like a life line for me being an exile.
I come on here to get all the news of the lads, excluding Hetton Lass.
The mix of posters we have gives all pov.
I'll never meet the overhelming majority in real life but I value their contributions in the main and marvel at those whose opinions I blink at.
If it died a part of me would do too.

It's undoubtedly the best not just football forum but any other type of forum out there imo. The layout is clear. The sub forums are split nicely. A great wide ranging selection of posters. I've lost count the amount of times I've laughter out loud reading it and shedded a tear doing the same. It's the first place I head to on a morning and the last place I visit at night. Any type of breaking news and my first reaction is to head to here to see what people are saying. Long live the Sunderland message boards

Aye I've noticed that, when I first joined I was a teenager and there was others around the same age now young lads and lasses will just use twitter as their source of news and opinions.

I'll be canny gutted too mate, generally the first place I check when I look at my phone.

It is very easy to use and clear to read like.

Been on here a canny long time, I've made some lovely mates and enjoy reading / participating now and again 😉
It's made me nigh on die laughing so much that the bairn is asking me if I'm okay
I have a lot of time for a lot of people, yes there's the odd arsehole but arseholes are everywhere in life.
I've cried a lot of sad tears too, when folks have died or bad things have happened but we move on and keep on keeping on.
Thank you all for making the place what it is 😘

Ditto marra.
Hardly ever get back up North now, so this is my main contact, not only for the Lads, but with the North East in general.
Touch base several times a day, and look out for certain posters that either make me laugh, smile, or even on certain occasions, think.
Even has good lads like Swindon On Tour from other clubs, that are made welcome and really contribute.
Would properly miss it if it wasn't here.
