Polis Costs

We get charged the minute they start duty. So that will be probably be 3 hours prior to kick off and an hour after. I think document i linked earlier quoted something like 6 hours as standard
Where they they start duty? Once they arrive outside the SoL or in Newcastle's central copshop when they gather for the pre-ops briefing?

Briefings

NPCC guidance says:

6.5 The core policing component would cover all phases of the match which extends to a period before and after the match itself. The methodology in this instance sets a six hour chargeable period to reflect:
a) Parading at a station;
b) Briefing and equipment allocation;
c) Transport to locality;
d) Policing “Phases 1 to 3” – a period before, during and after the match;
e) Debrief;
f) Transport to home station.

You best tackle the home office. They state how much to charge nationally.

Even the Home Office have seen us as an easy touch. We must have been the worst run club in history under Short and his various incompetent deputies. Everybody's taken us to the cleaners!

Could be worse, West Ham dont pay for policing, for stewarding and the tax payer even picks up the bill for their ground. Now THAT is taking the piss.

I think the reason the costs have been explained already, the Police are having to police private land with big numbers to escort away fans.
The club could reduce numbers and costs of they did the job inside the ground with stewards only.

whats the difference at newcastle though?

i thought the process was that the club need to obtain a 'safety certificate' for each game, via the council. the certificate will state how many police officers need to be on duty, stewards, ambulances, exit points are open etc..

i really don't understand how it can be double the cost of having a game at st.james ? would love to know

There must be escorting of away fans at Newcastle though? How is it that much different?

Outside St James is council land, the whole area around sol is private. Also with bigger away crowds, the club have had more games with Police inside the ground, which means more officers and cost, whereas Newcastle usually use stewards. The rate for an officer is the same nationally, just the numbers deployed are different.
They club night need to rethink about using more stewards.

This could get interesting,
I remember working matches before and being used as a resource for city centre policing hours after the game ,
That was at both cities
