Yep. Spent the whole summer saying he only wants players who want to be here and who have the right attitude then spends it trying to sign Gradel (financial terms agreed) who didn't want to be here, Snodgrass (financial terms agreed) who didn't want to be here and McCormack who's spent the last season not even bothering to turn up for training. The latter being a deal that went on all summer (with no backup option) then fell through before he declared he never wanted a striker anyway.

Still not sure where the money for Gradel/Snodgrass went considering these apparent deals were agreed in advance of when we shifted Khazri and Papy which released funds for a couple of freebies and a loanee.

The bloke is an idiot
No he isnt. He just answers questions and makes statements the same as all managers do. People on the internet then spend their lives disecting every utterance and search for hidden meanings. Personnally I think they are the idiots.

He literally spent all summer trying to sign a striker then said he didn't want one. Makes him look like a complete moron. Doesn't even need dissecting.

If he's already admitted publicly that he didnt sign a striker because he didn't need one then it's on his shoulders.

As I said, what he says, and what I expect he thinks are likely to be two different things. Its just media stuff. It means little. Dont get worked up over it.

I'm going to be shot at for pointing this out but I seem to recall Kevin Phillips only scored 4 or 5 goals in 15 or 16 matches after he signed when we were related. He then went on a goal spree.

Just saying it's too early to tell with Vaughan.

Might be me being senile, but when did we get relegated with KP in the team, and then he stayed with us? Have I read it wrong? Or are you meaning the first season when we first signed him?

I like him me personally. We've always looked much worse when he's went off.

Puts himself about and does actually win a few flick ons. Creates chances anorl like the one where grabban got his shot cleared off the line against Leeds.

Must be said though I never feel he's going to score, which isn't great for a striker

If SG said we didn't need a striker then we are in serious trouble with him as manager

Thought the header was excellent, really put some neck muscle into it, but should have done so much when through on goal after he stole the ball off one of their centre halfs. Let's hope it's the start of something good for him and us of course.

7 in first 15 appearances. Scored 4 in his first 5 then got injured and missed 5 games or so. Didn't score in the next 3 or 4 when he came back from injury and I remember questions then being asked about why we'd nivver bought a known striker. Me da was raging saying "the lads got 4 in 5 give him a chance".
Not saying Vaughans a Phillips like but if Fletcher and Wickam can gan on a mini scoring spree in the PL then mebbes he can in the FL. It only takes a scuff, deflection, tap in, open goal, bad pass back, defensive slip, ref mistake and he's almost in double figures! Gannon son you can do it!

He's either massively out of depth or stupid enough to think he can fob fans off daily. Considering our performances so far this season I assume it's the first

He's just a yes man. Will say whatever Short and Bain will want to hear.

From a tactics standpoint, hopefully he's just a bit stubborn and a slow learner... as that would mean eventually he'll get things sorted.

Looking a clueless shambles at the moment, howev.

Totally agree mate.

I think the closing down he does and the running he does down channels is wasted without a scoring midfielder who charges into the space he creates.

After scoring 24 in 37 and really standing out by all accounts in just the league below he should be a decent championship striker - at least average - and capable of 12 -15 goals.
