Was thinking of giving the VR stuff on the PlayStation a go. Is it actually any good, or is it just a gimmick that makes you feel sick after a few minutes?

It’s actually quite good. Mind you, I can only last about an hour on the headset.

Some of the free VR games are good. And I see ok with my glasses on.

Need For Speed is quite good on the VR levels.

Star Wars Battlefront - the x-wing VR level is brilliant, going up against a swarm of tie fighters and Star Destroyer and your view from the cockpit of the x-wing. Frantically looking around for income fighters (must look weird if you looking at somebody with the headset on!)

  3. I was blown away by it but the issue is the game catalogue. If you’ve already done Skyrim and don’t like horror games then there’s not a whole lot of games to choose from. The rest of the available games are cheap, short indie games. Superhot VR is the best game I’ve played.

Up there with 3D for repeated gimmicky bollocks.

I don't play computer games but that sounds class like.

To be honest, the medium doesn’t really lend itself to spending hours and hours inside a game, and a surprising number of people get nauseous from the experience (not something I’ve ever suffered from, mind). At the price it is now I’d say it’s well worth driving in just to experience the short stuff and the fun, ‘messing around’ type of games. You’re right about the horror stuff...there’s far too many cheap jump scare ‘games’, but Resident Evil is a must-play, less a game, more an interactive nightmare.

The library is growing, and the new 4 vs 4 tactical shooter ‘Firewall, Zero Hour’ is by far the best game I’ve played on vr.

  9. I could spend hours playing it personally. Can’t even play flat games anymore. I’d love a fallout or a full call of duty or something along those lines.

I’ve not tried firewall but I have zero interest in pvp stuff.

Farpoint (with the aim controller), Skyrim, resident evil 7 and superhot make the kit worth buying imo.

  10. Huge potential but just a gimmick as no one has developed anything for it worthwhile. Shorter lifespan than thr Kinect.

I’ll wait until VR gets a lot better. Problem for me is I play a limited range of games, I just play them a lot, and none of them lend themselves to VR.

If they ever find a way to integrate VR and Call of Duty though...

At least this more or less works, Kinect was a fucking joke and barely if ever worked for me.

There’s a shooter that’s just come out on psvr that’s suppose to be very good.

Resident Evil 7 is class in VR like. Going to have an attempt at madhouse (the hardest) difficulty sometime.

It’s an add on to the game, unfortunately it’s a bit short. Hopefully they expand on it a bit. Basically you start off on a routine patrol around the rebel fleet, before joining the rest of the squadron to jump to another star system, where you rendezvous with a ship carrying information to the alliance. You have to navigate around an asteroid belt, and you are then ambushed by a Star Destroyer and tie fighter squadron.

The VR game I enjoy is Star Trek: Bridge Commander. And that has gotten better since the release of the Next Generation add on, with the Enterprise D Bridge available (Captain, Helm, Ops and Tactical). Oh going up against a Borg cube is a delight!

If you do get it, and fancy a bit of tactical shooting, get Firewall - Zero Hour, give me an add ‘costamonkey’ and we can team up and die like fuck together.

Same goes for anybody else who has the game, because it really needs communication and I hate talking to complete strangers. At least there’s a tentative ‘friendship’ amongst the smb!

    Fuck off, nerd.

(Actually sounds pretty good, I did enjoy chatting with randomers when playing Halo 3 until some Yank said my accent was 'retarded')

You’re just being your usual curmudgeonly self, young Philip. It’s far better than Kinect, and whilst it’s definitely in its infancy there’s more than enough stuff to keep you entertained. I spent ages just sitting in my virtual Ferrari in Driveclub, looking around at the cockpit detail, then in my Lambo, then my Maserati....you get the idea!

You’d love psvr frijjy, as I said above, it’s in its infancy but there’s still masses of fun to be had with it. It’s almost taken the shine off ‘normal’ games for me. I always have to get myself motivated to get it all set-up, but I’ve never failed to be blown away each time (each and every time) the game loads up and I’m stood there in an entire other world that I can look around and move in.

Can’t have hobbies when you have a wife and kids? Must mean that the woman and two teenagers that live in my house are nothing to do with me....that’s a relief, they were costing me a fortune.
