Gareth Barry and Joleon Lescott should never be seen in an England shirt again.

What did Lescott do wrong? Almost faultless defensively and if he gave the ball away, then so did the rest of the England team in midfield.....and it's half their job to keep it

if you want to go down the scapegoat path, then the three poorest performers were:

1) henderson
2) Jagielka
3) Walcott

Watch the French. Movement is the key. After they pass the ball, they move into space creating the opportunity to receive the ball.

Barry could not pass the ball like this because players like Walcott and Henderson hid. And the fall guy is Barry.

The only ball on for the back 4, or Barry was the hopeful punt up to carroll, or the diagonal to the wide men. And it's predictable and therefore easy to defend against. If you can't win the first header, win the 2nd ball

Opinions mate, but I've seen him plenty of times for City this season and he's gone so far back its untrue. Every part of his game is much weaker. Since he went to City he hasnt been the star he was at Villa

Carroll and Henderson are not in the same calibre as the latter players.

And if england want to do anything in the modern game they need players like Barry who can pass the ball. Not his fault that the players in front of him had forgotten that you can't receive the ball if you don't move into space.

As ever, when discussing the national team, fans look at it from the perspective of their own club. In reality Capello has done Henderson no favours at all in picking him way before he was ready, and I bet Bruce has been championing him behind the scenes.

They're not likely to have their ability at 20 years old but surely they have to start somewhere. Of course they've been picked too early but rather than discard them they need to continue their development by being in the squad. Barry's passing is decent at times but International footballers need more pace these days. Henderson would not be near the team if we hadn't of thrown him in regurlarly and it won't do him any harm in the long run.

Barry should have been shot after the world cup. SWP needs two years of intensive one to one coaching to teach the thick bugger what to do with a football

It wasn't particularly to do with last night's game, I agree Lescott was no worse than anyone else. I just don't think he's good enough, and is picked purely on the basis of Man City paying a ludicrously high fee for him.

Barry might be able to pass the ball once, but he can't now because he turns slower than the QE2 and must have a sprint time over ten yards of about 30 seconds

Lescott
Barry
SWP
Green
G.Johnson
B.Zamora
C.Cole

Those from the 'current' England squad off the top of my mind.
