Players that went completely to shit

Ronaldinho
Sebastian Deisler (although not really his own fault)

Arshavin. That game at Liverpool had me believing he was going to blow the Premier League apart.
Then he remembered he was Russian.

Kevin Arnott looked to have the world at his feet at 22 and was playing for Chesterfield and effectively finished by 26.

Shit I never realised he was that young when he left.

I thought he meant the Denilson who Real Betis paid a fortune for?

That's who I thought he meant.

I read the other day that Danny Webber has just signed for Accrington I think. I know he was not a top player but he was pretty decent and had a couple of good seasons.

The Sunderland player I quote most often in threads like this one is Paul Atkinson. Was dubbed the 'new George Best' when he came through the reserves but never cut it in the first team.

Another one that comes to mind from the early 80's is a lad called Wayne Harrison atLiverpool. They signed him for 350k or something from Oldham on deadline day. He was the most expensive teenager in British football at the time but never made the grade. It might have been injury related but it was rare for Liverpool to get it wrong in those days.

Mido looked the shit at one point...

Mido and Defoe for Spurs looked almost as good as Berbatov and Keane together, Jol couldn't decide. He also couldn't keep them happy, so Keane and Berbatov moved on (being the favourites), then so did Defoe and Mido with being pissed off as slight second fiddle. Spurs ended up buying to of them back and never recapturing what they had in the first place. Though I suppose buying Bale eventually made up for that.

Shearer - class at Blackburn but his career died when he joined some bunch of clampits who worship a stupid iron bridge and a dirty river.

Good shout - I'd forgotten that they had mido & Defoe at the same Time as Keane + berbatov. Goes to show you can have too much of a good thing if it means you can't keep them all happy at the same time.

Mido and Defoe were second choice, but IIRC there record together was awesome and they looked excellent playing together. Mido was at his fittest at that point, he seemed to lose interest after that. Thankfully we lost out and Jones done well short term instead, Boro got lumbered with a fat lad not interested in football as his dad was minted.
