Arshavin was class. Went to arsenal played very well then just vanished.

Scott Sinclair, even if he does have the chance to recover his career still

Owen, could blame his injury plus the way Real Madrid fans treated him was a joke

James Vaughan, after Rooney left Everton this young superstar popped up and showed they never needed him anyway. Then vanished (there's loads of peoe in his position)

surely mutu has got to be mentioned?

Before Mutu, Spurs signed a Romanian in the mid 90's (Dumitrescu?) who'd looked a cracking player at USA 94 World cup in an excellent team (Hagi etc)

I remember picking the papers up one sunday morning just after he'd signed for Spurs to see a photo of him in bed with two prostitutes. His career spiralled downwards pretty quickly from then:lol::lol:

Played regularly in the Premiership from the ages of 20 and 28, then joined Barcelona for 3 years! Hardly "went completely to shit".

Was 27 when he joined Barca. Scored 14 goals there over 108 apperances in all competitions. Piss. Only got games cause he was expensive and Barca's squad paper thin. Then he went on to score a total of twice for Tottenham, Monaco, Stoke and AEK Athens. Is doing a bit better at the moment for Brugge, but he was indeed shit from 27-32 years of age.

Kluivert.
In fact you can pick from a whole bunch that Newcastle signed over the past 15 years or so.

Franny Jeffers, although was he really ever that good?

Michael Branch was also touted as the next big thing at one point anarl.
Also that Michael Johnson kid at Man City.
Saw him play a few years ago and he looked great, sad to see how he turned out.

Jimmy Montgomery.

Was a Sunderland hero and a very good keeper but seemed to lose his love of the game when he went to Birmingham. He looked very uncomfortable when he came to Roker Park with them.

By a strange quirk of fate, he won a European Cup winners medal with Forest without playing for them, iirc ...... even the giants of football up the road can't manage that ;)

Federico Macheda

Javier Hernandez, maybe? In his debut season with Man Utd he seemed to score whenever he was within two feet of the ball. Obviously he's had fewer opportunities since they bought Van Persie, but he doesn't seem the same player.

Thought Hernandez had a very good season last year. Very limited in terms of his all-round play but a fantastic goalscorer.

Heres one for the teenagers................. Peter Marinello

This one fell on stoney ground didn't it? I seem to recall he was a teenage Scottish right winger from Hibs who went to Arsenal back in the early 60s. He was grossly over-hyped by the press and never kicked on.
