I know Steve Harper gets a lot of stick for spending as much time happily sat on the bench as he did and it got me thinking - Who wasted their career the most? (In terms of just not playing, not jail sentences or injuries etc)

I will start with -

Stuart Taylor -
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuart_Taylor_(footballer,_born_1980)

Was a bright young prospect that just never seemed to be arsed about playing as long as he was getting paid.
Richard wrights another played a lot at front end of career and basically just picked up a wage since 2000

Winston Bogarde.

Always thought he played more - Just a quick google search bought up this -

During his period at Chelsea, the club attempted to sell Bogarde due to his large salary, and demoted him to the reserve and youth teams in an effort to force him to leave. In response to press criticism, he responded: 'This world is about money, so when you are offered those millions you take them. Few people will ever earn so many. I am one of the few fortunates who do. I may be one of the worst buys in the history of the Premiership but I don't care.

Those last few lines

He was a waster in the sense of the fact he was a raging alcoholic that coukd have played on, but as I mentioned in the op its not about that. Im looking for perfectly healthy players happy to not play.
