Remember watching that post match interview and their manager at the time was asked about us appealing for the game to be replayed and he said something like "Well if Sunderland want to try and get in through the back door then they can try"

Wanker.
It was Aldridge. He is from Liverpool, he couldn't be honest if he tried.

The Aldridge/Tranmere thing still pisses me off, and the FA ruling, the Coventry situation, and the FA's ruling on that too - in fact the FA are the thing that pisses me off most in football, along with Blatter and Platini and their private moneymaking scams, Qatar ffs

Steven Taylor's blatant cheating over the years!

Dont really follow your posts but i will bet you didnt complain about the team selection in the 5th round via Southampton when it was near enough the same?
Ever hear of giving fringe players a chance?

or just dump them as its the 1/4 finals ?[DOUBLEPOST=1394837511][/DOUBLEPOST]

above post

quite a few did complain about the selection and also Poyet's comments about he'd rather lose than draw

anyway I know it's your thread so as this is a canny thread then we should stick to it. The debate about this (if you feel the need to reply but I don't think there's much you can say) may need to continue in another thread as it's drifting to a subject that has the most threads in recent memory!

this is what I said about the Southampton 'myth'

ah, the old Southampton game is brought up again

some points to note about the Southampton 'myth' as it's getting as ridiculous as the Mag Slaying Altidire myth!

1) we were at home so the changed players are obviously on a more familiar playing surface along with home comforts with crowd etc. How many of the changes had previously played at Hull?
2) Southampton changed players also, 6 of them
3) only 4 of the Southampton FA Cup team had started the League game against us 4 weeks earlier
4) We had 3 changes to Hull team from Southampton team, see point 5)
5) Borini played the whole Southampton game so at least we had a goal threat and someone up front pressuring the Southampton defence which would relieve the midfield/defence at times. Fletcher came in for him and Bardsley came in for Celutska and Colback for Gardener. Fletcher & Scocco was a first time forward line up so something unknown (although previous performances gave a good idea of what to expect)
6) a place at Wembley wasn't a big a stake
7) Lambert missed an open goal!
8) Southampton were probably more focused on 7th place at the time (just 3 points behind)
9) Hull were at home and both the players the crowd was up for it, not exactly SOL atamospehere although our fans gave it 100%
10) it's a different game altogether regardless of the 9 points above

to compare the Southampton game to the Hull game and try to use it as a valid argument just shows the naivety of some SAFC fans. Why does the same (or 1 or 2 changes) team win against a good side one week and then lose the next? it's because each game is different

Gus went into the Hull game without a goal threat and it showed! if Borini had started then who knows what would have happened

but no doubt people will say the 'injury' claim. Players can get injured at any time so playing 1 more game does increase risk but what is the likely hood of it actually happening. Plus he did come on at 0-0 and if anything would have had more chance of injury due to the desperation of getting the win so late in the game

Gus didn't really put out a team to beat Hull as what exactly have Fletcher and Scocco shown with regards being a goal threat in recent months? Borini should have started so we at least had a threat up front as Fletcher and Scocco simply haven't shown goal scoring form at all. The rest of the changes, fine but to start without a goal threat and an unknown pairing?

even so, he'll still keep us up as we'll batter Crystal Palace Saturday ;)

I dont agree

The players who got you to the 1/4 deserve a chance

so what about Borini then? BOOOOOOM! I've sank your battleship! I've said that to start with Fletcher and Scocco who has very little proven goal threat was the main (possibly only) fuck up by Gus and this showed!

Lee Clarke tshirt incident
Countless ref injustices as well
Kilbane deeing the v signs at our fans twice

The Suarez handball was the worst thing I've ever seen. Plus it showed that cheaters do win

If I was the ref I'd have kept making Gyan retake it till he scored saying I thought a player went inside the box

If it was a Sunderland player v the scum would you feel the same? He did what he had to do for his team and his country, shit for the opposition of course but thems the rules...(still think a penalised goal option would be a good option in those circumstances, would stop it happening anyway)

Sessegnon....

....can't believe he didn't take the opportunity to boot Taylor in the head just after Graham was fouled.

I have dreamt of being in that situation, and believe me if I had, sailor boy would not have kicked a ball again.

Gyan should have completed the simple task of scoring from 12 yards then. I'd do exactly the same if I was playing for my country in a world cup quarter finals.

Sure of one thing , bet Gus ensures we are out of the cups early next year! He was stuck between the rock and a hard place and despite the best showing in both cups for years his judgement is being undermined by fans who will not accept reality. Reality Check yep that's what's needed.

Chopra incident wasn't pre meditated he just chose wrong option and as has been said he's just not up to much.
Could've forgiven Clark personally as was class for us but don't think majority of fans would so right to chase him.
Kilbane was getting dogs abuse so no problem with him giving some back. A decent trier who is made out worse than actually was.
Bent went for more money. I'd do same as would everyone else on here.
Moral of story as a fan is try not to take anything personally as the supporters are the one and only constant at any football club.Players, managers and chairman will invariably move on and disappoint eventually I'm afraid.

You are obviously not reading my posts

Of course

f***ing hell man Poyet ...like me..is not a c.unt like half the people on here
No sentiment in football, they did a job against a weakened Southampton side but we should be putting our stronger players out for the latter rounds.

To be honest - don't think it was intentional , he is / was just shit
Come close v them at the Sol - hit the bar & looked as though he was busting a gut to score
It was like that's why quinny shipped him out day after derby. Asked him was it intentional and chopra would not answer him so we got rid that day

More sensationalist nonsense! Chopra an odious charachter but he most certainly never done that intentionally.Put yourself in his position hometown club bin you as deem you not good enough then rivals sign you up and you get opportunity against the club that chased ya.There fans singing derogatory songs about you as well. You would bust a gut to ram it down there throats! I certainly would. He just chose wrong option because he's a knacker. That simple.
